Sad story, but you simply can't blame the cops.

There is one hard fast rule I live by.....if the police tell me to do something, I do it. I don't worry about my rights, I don't get an attitude. I just do it.

I've seen several pictures of the pelet gun and it looks just like a Glock. I feel sad for the boy's family but the kid was clearly in the wrong here.

Sounds like possible suicide by cop.

It might have been. If so it sucks he had to mess a cop's life up in the process of killing himself.

If you feel your rights are violated there are always remedies after the fact.

I feel sorry for the officer.

Even though the officer acted reasonably and appropriately, it can't be easy to shoot and kill and teenager (in any case) especially when you later find out it was a pellet gun.

Not that the officer should feel guilty ....

...something is up with this kid.

It's seems to be a far reach that he was looking for attention and wanting to be killed.

The officers were not wrong, but other agencies need to dig and find out why this child ended up punching another child and then was in a hallway with a gun pointed at police officers.

Wow. I could start a whole new thread about this alone. Continue to let the police boss you around without regard to the law. Let me know how that goes.

*I'm speaking in generalities..not when they have a gun to your face.

Uh no. I'm talking about exactly what Casmith said. Deal with it after the fact.

Or do what you think is your right at the very moment you are confronting a cop, and tell me how that goes.

When cop asks you do to do something, do it. We have courts for a reason, if what they tell you is wrong, sue the city and the sorry police officers ***. But at the time do it, that way there isn't anything they can so or do, to either lock you up or shoot you.

I know my rights, and I flex them whenever it's needed. I am not scared to confront cops within my legal rights at all. I've have had police trying to search my car (nothing illegal was in it), but I don't know if they want to plant something in there. Cops (not all) are crooked. They lie. My answer was "i don't consent to unwarrented searches of my vehicle, officer. If you think I have drugs then go get the drug dog". Why should I be all scared and let it get to the point of "dealing with it after the fact"? That's just stupid.

At the end of the day. The cop go's home, and the little fool go's to cold storage. I call it a win win.

That's a completely different scenario than what we're talking about.

Besides, if you wait until after the fact, then you can hire an attorney and help out a struggling lawyer ;)

Wasn't there some kind of law some years ago that toy guns had to have something that made sure they did not look like real ones for this very reason? Something about making them neon colors, over sized, odd shaped and so on.

Good scenario. Unfortunetely it has nothing to do with a cop "TELLING YOU TO DO SOMETHING", like my original post stated.

We are talking apples and oranges here.
