Wow, and after seeing more quotes from the parents of this boy, i have no doubt they were awful parents, and now awful people as well.

The mother is quoted as saying, "He was just a boy, like any boy.. they had no right to do this."

Are you friggin serious lady?? Get off it.. and now they plan to look for a lawyer and sue the officer or officers who shot this kid too? As if he isn't suffering enough in his own head and heart over having to shoot this kid.. unbelievable.

The parents actions and statements make me want to vomit.

Very sad, but as others have pointed out the cops did the right thing. This kind of hits me hard because my lil sister is in 8th grade and seems like just yesterday I was in 8th grade.

Was this supposed to be funny? You're joking around when a child lost his life here?

No. Cop shouldn't have pulled the trigger.

I would think that most with Police training could hit a person in the leg, and once most people are shot in the knee, they are paying more attention to their own leg than getting off another shot. Especially a middle school kid.

But don't get me wrong, .. if you point a gun at a policeman, don't complain when you get what you deserve.

I don't have a problem with what happened here, .. but I was just wondering when it was a kid, and not a drug dealer, murderer, armed robber, etc. that you could shoot to disable and not kill.

Tragic.

Much easier said than done. It's not easy to place rounds in a twelve inch moving circle in as stressful a situation as that must have been.

It's a mistake to assume all cops have mastered their weapons. I occasionally find myself next to cops at the range. They are there to practice for their qualifications. Some of them really don't know what they are doing. It takes a lot of practice to be able to put rounds where you want them with a handgun even in a non-stress environment.

Which one is the real gun and which is fake? I know the answer based on the article, but without it, I probably wouldn't have known the difference. Extremely sad for everyone involved.

You could tell by the size of the muzzle if it was pointed at you. Other than that it is very realistic. Even has the trigger safety.

What they are calling a "pellet gun" could really be an Airsoft which is a copy of a real handgun which fires plastic pellets and is intended to simulate the trigger pull of the real handgun for training purposes.

The muzzle always looks way bigger when it's pointed at you.

Especially when you think they might pull the trigger.

For the "aim at the knee" crowd, cops are taught to shoot center mass and only shoot with intent to kill. You don't draw down on somebody with intent to maim. Their intention was to end the threat. The kid was an idiot. It's tragic and devastating to the family, and I feel for them, but they did what they had to do.

It turned out to be a pellet gun,but how were they supposed to know that? Its not like he was running down the hall with the orange duck hunt gun and the cord trailing behind him. It looked JUST like a glock.

So, they shouldn't have shot because he was 15? (let's stop focusing on the 8th grader aspect...he was the age of a sophomore). Last I checked, a gun shot by a 15 year old has as much killing power as one fired by an adult.

He engaged police officers with a gun. He lost.

Haha you do not know very many police then I have tons of guys I went to college with and my brother law is a cop most people that are cops struggle to qualify each year with their fire arm. They get every little extra training with fire arms unless they are specialty divisions.

The military has a lot of issues with people being able to hit a target. You be amazed at how many people we qualified with a pencil and if you had a computerized target place you would put a guy in the fox hole next to him that already qualified and he assist in his qualification.

I know you're just a kid, so i try to go easy on you.. but honestly, that's one of the most ignorant things i've ever heard you say on here. Actually, its the most ignorant. If you honestly believe that and arn't just looking for attention i'd say you're part of the problem. Stupid, man.

I wish we could discuss politics, but we can not. So I will just not argue with you.

We can discuss the subject at hand. How do you feel that the cops were wrong to shoot the guy?

I don't see much political about it.

You point a gun at an officer, you're going to get shot.

Pretty simple really.
