When you make a boneheaded mistake, you don't double down on that mistake. You accept how stupid you were and eliminate it as fast as you can. Not let it hang around three or five years. Another waste of even more time in this 30 year rebuilding phase.
But we are run by a family that never admits mistakes and scapegoats coaches and players for their failures. Real accountability doesn’t exist in Big D.

If he plays harball, cut your losses and cut him or bench him for Lance. This would probably get him to waive his no trade clause. If he gives in to a team friendly deal, sign him to a prove yourself contract and continue to build around him with the cap savings.

And why does he agree? You do need to make a deal the player will agree to. It’s like saying you would sign Lamb for 15m per season. I am sure you would but he won’t.
Yep, Dak gets $34m cash next season on present contract.....he'd be happy enough taking that, then a bit signing bonus incentivised pay day new contract in 2025.

:oops::oops:.... that's a pretty fair opinion.

Ranching was really here to bring Balance in the Force.

oh i know this but sometimes the message gets distorted depending on the sender in this case it applies. Kind of like Ron Jeremy (RIP) telling us how bad porn is
I agree, but look what @PAPPYDOG 's done, there's nearly an agreement with @Ranching . .
Yea, not full agreement, but some form of acknowledgement that we can't have another negotiation like last time

The only thing puppy has done is embarrass himself with his narrow mindset. I have always been critical of Dak's play in big games, I just don't act like a spoiled child. :muttley:

Honestly it depends on the amount and terms of the deal, but in most scenarios I struggle to see how you pay Dak $60M and they improve the rest of the roster. I know a lot of that money will be pushed to the back end of the deal, but so will the deals of Parsons, Lamb, Bland, etc. Most impact free agents require multi year deals where you try to backload some of that money as well but the Cowboys wont have that luxury unless they truly go the all in route for 2024, but per Stephen's comments that no longer seems realistic. It's once again run it back, give your own guys a raise, and hope you hit on 3 starters in the draft.

Ill be rooting for this team regardless, but I've seen this story a few times already.

Post June 1 cut. We need to start moving in a different direction as a franchise. 2-6 in win or go home games. With as much $$$$ as he’s going to cost we can’t build a solid roster to carry him in the post season.
I was torn between that and letting him play out the season. I would not extend him at this point. If we ever want to contend for a super bowl, at some point you gotta cut bait and just suck for a few years. You think the Texans got Stroud from being good????

So this is like GM for a day ??
The cowboys have many issues, and you cant solve them all by just getting rid of dak.
They needed a new HC like BB and then let him decide on dak and all other issues.
They chose not to do that , so now it doesnt matter what they do.
