Have we all just ignored the fact that Zeke routinely checks himself out of games to get a blow?

Every running back gets tired.

This is just more unnecessary Pollard slander.

Why not just enjoy the fact that we have two good backs?

I agree putting down 1 to prop up the other is getting old. These 2 guys are close teammates and pull for each other I wish fans could understand this. Pollard and Zeke doing good is good for the team and it is good for winning football games.

Pollard doesn’t have to be a workhorse he just needs to be the main guy. Put egos aside and give the best player the reps. Zeke can still get 10+ touches a game. There’s no need to pick a side. They can both play. Just do the right thing and give the better player more opportunities. It’s just that simple.

Why?
It is working fine the way it is.
Don't fix what is not broken.

I doubt if many seen Zeke's reaction on the sidelines to Tony's success and TD's. Zeke was very happy for him.

Because as the Chicago game displayed, you can be more efficient a have more big plays when he's the lead back. You don't want to improve the offence?

That just makes it easier to keep him next year. He just hurt his market value with other teams.

Meh. This is a second hand account from Skip Peete. During negotiations I would pull a "I do not recall that." It's kinda curious that a coach is even putting that information out there though. Should something happen to Zeke again, you're thinking as a defense that Pollard can only be counted on for so long. Or maybe it is an early negotiation ploy by the team. Just odd. I would not be happy if I were Pollard but that's gotta be worth some "get right" cash from Jerry.

Tony Pollard can't be a lead running back in the NFL.

By his own admission. He tapped out after 15 carries.

Good news is that this might make him a lot cheaper to re-sign.

In this offense, 15 carries is a lead rb load. I'd rather have Pollard giving us 15 opportunities to bust a big play than 15 of Zeke's predictable 3-4 yard plunges into the teeth of the defense.

Pollard should be the lead back and Zeke should be the short yardage specialist for the rest of the year. Then you cut Zeke and his huge salary in the offseason and sign or draft a rb to help out Pollard.

Might have been because he lined up at receiver 5-6 times and was the I-back in the 2 back set with Zeke at FB another 3-4 times. He played more snaps but got fewer touches.. In short.. some of the Detroit snaps were of the less stressful variety. I think he was also out there for the end of game kneel downs with Zeke nursing the knee. TP also gained 53 of his 83 yards on two carries.. meaning he got 30 yards on the other 10 carries.. 3.0 a pop.. It also bears pointing out that Pollard's two long runs or 28 and 25 yards came in the second half.. you know.. after that other guy had worn the defense down some. It's a winning formula.. we need to keep using it.

We have GREAT tandem, enjoy it while it lasts!
Not great. If we had a Henry, Chubb, or Jacobs with Pollard...that would be Great.

It is a good tandem. It is dragged down by Zeke unfortunately. He just isn't in the same class as most of the top rushing backs in the league.

Pretty much…at this point gives you close to 0% chance of an explosive play.

Yes, this is what you get with him that you don't get with Zeke. It's funny that everyone is trying to omit his big plays when that is why most if us are advocating for altering his usage.

You do know the offense scored 50+ points twice last year with Zeke as the lead back right? And hit 40+ two other times.. Playing the Bears is what improved the offense not sitting Zeke..

The way he talks about his fatigue, using him too much would wear him down and eventually eliminate the big plays.
