However, "Odell is going to join us"

Yes, let's overpay for a 30 year old receiver with two surgeries to the same knee and jettison one of the most explosive playmakers this season, a 25 year old RB. Brilliant!

Houston Oilers with Earl Campbell as their best player made it to two consecutive AFC Title games ------following 1978 & 1979 regular seasons.

Detroit Lions with Barry Sanders as their best player made it to the NFC Title game following the 1991 regular season.

What is the name on the "went to the conference title game" participation trophy?

I wonder how many "fans" that want Pollard gone would even notice if we used that money on OBJ?

There's a segment of this fan base that will complain even if both sign team friendly deals. It's just what they do.

Can the Cowboys with Prescott and Elliott in their 7th season together...along with Tyron Smith and Zack Martin - both being longtime Cowboys stalwarts - lead the way to get this franchise to a conference title game (or beyond) at least one time before their playing careers end (as have Campbell and Sanders did)?

Smart teams don't deal out big money deals to RB's.

Agree/Disagree?

Disagree.

Look at what San Francisco just did.

They traded a ton of draft capital for McCaffery who has a huge cap hit next year.

We can afford Pollard by cutting Zeke and drafting a RB in round 2-4.

Stop me if you heard this before.....People are unsure if Dak + drafted RB can carry the load so they want to give the RB big money.

I would use that Dalton Shultz money on Pollard and ask Zeke to take a pay cut kind of like DLaw did to stay on the roster. No need to create more holes.

I think this is close to what we do. If we don't we'll be drafting a running back in the second or third round to complement whoever we keep.

We won't know until their careers with the Cowboys are over.

Those that think letting Pollard walk and will then have a rookie or a FA RB replace the production he brings to the team are really insane. You are not gonna get the homerun threat and production he gives the offense. If the Cowboys franchise him I can understand if Pollard would be pissed because that would be another one or two years and more wear and tear on his body....you really think the Boys will give him a big contract after that? Of course not, and neither would another team. Dallas should do the right thing and sign him to a contract of at least three to four years and let him get paid his worth. With Schultz gone and Zeke gone or reduced, Dallas can afford him. i would be comfortable with Pollard, Malik and another RB next year.

Pollard you did everything we asked of you and more, but we have to let you go. We overpaid Zeke and so we can't make the mistake of paying you any money. There's a salary cap you know. We probably won't sign anyone in free agency but it's just the principle that you're a running back and should get paid dirt. We wish you well on your future endeavors. Zeke is our starting rb of the future.

It's a great running back class, also the Notre Dame Tight End would be hard to pass if there when we are on the clock.

I definitely agree. Cant make the same mistake twice. However Pollard is a much better back than Zeke was when he signed his extension so I would pay around 8 million/year for 2 years but nothing more. No way do I go the 10-15 million dollar route.

Its a very good year for FA RB's this offseason and there are one or two we could sign cheap to replace both Zeke and Pollard.

Zeke is gone. You dont have to worry about that. NO way they can keep him.

As far as signing someone in FA its a good your for FA for backs. Im sure they will offer Pollard something. But he will get a bigger offer elsewhere.

Can zeke restructure? He seems like a real team player lately
:lmao2::lmao2::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Why would you want him? Is he going to rip up his old contract completely and take 3 or 4 million per year. Even at THAT price we can sign better backs.

Heck we need to get rid of him for the sole reason that management still thinks he is a top back.

Why would you want the Cowboys to continue to feature or give half the carries to an over the hill, aging, RB like Zeke?

Put your personal feeling aside for a moment and think about the team. Arent you excited to see the next Zeke or Emmitt develop here? Wouldnt you want a cheaper RB in the draft that is faster, younger, and can propel this team forward? Instead of some over priced aging back on the downside of his career?

That is not 100% accurate. A guy like Mattison for the Vikings is very similar to Pollard and could be had for probably 3 million per year. We could also draft another great young back in the draft. We could find a combo that is every bit as effective as Pollard and Zeke if we do it right.

Heck we could go out and sign Mattison and Foreman and have what we have now. Probably for like 6 million per year total. Use the savings to strengthen the Oline which is the engine for the running game.

A team should show their loyalty and do what's best for the team, as well as for the players, themselves. It's quite cyclical, by nature.

I don't really care about cheaper, frankly. Yes I believe Zeke should take a pay cut because he is not being used in a manner that justifies his salary because the offensive philosophy changed right out from under him. None of which he has any control over. Still If you told me the team was going to go back to run oriented ground and pound style with this newcomer in the draft I might be down with it. But if they're just going to bring a kid in and give him 10-12 carries a game why would I not stay with my proven veteran for that? One who blocks like a 6th lineman and has about a 90% success rate in short yardage. And who has averaged just under 5 ypc the last three games.

The Cowboys aren't having another Zeke or Emmitt with Kellen Moore calling the plays, man. He doesn't want one.. He wants a sling it 50 times a game offense with an obligatory 20-25 runs sprinkled in with no rhyme nor reason to them. Just call 'em because Jerry says he has to. No plan.. no sub par players up front on the defense we want to attack. Just hand it off and get it over with so I can get back to the passing game.

The argument that Zeke is on the downside of his career doesn't really track because in his last 10-12 healthy games he has averaged right at 5 yards per carry. Like I said.. he has done it over the last three games. I feel the same way about Zeke that I do about TP. I aint walkin away from a good player for a "maybe good player." As long as the money is reasonable of course. Zeke's money is no longer reasonable given his role in the offense. I'm fine if they want to reset his salary and give TP a nice bump. But right now I have the best 1-2 punch in football at the RB position. I am in hurry to break that up.
