Pollard is fantastic but we have to let him walk

I would use that Dalton Shultz money on Pollard and ask Zeke to take a pay cut kind of like DLaw did to stay on the roster. No need to create more holes.
I would tell Pollard if he wants some of Zeke's money he's gonna have to take on more blocking assignments.

Tony just needs someone to seal the edge

He actually has a gear that can get around the corner and take off

If Zeke is in he has to go n and s only so it's easier to predict

That's the biggest problem w backs w no speed. That and getting run down from behind

We're paying 18.5 million for a pass blocker and short yardage n and s rb

And we're not giving the way faster Davis any opportunities to see what he can do.

So if one gets hurt we're behind the 8 ball.

Its taken 2 years of crying just to get Pollard even involved
Do you think the fans' crying is what got Pollard involved?

smh, team's defenses are set up now to stop the pass. A good RB is more valuable now since teams went to this style of defense. We've been playing better with a better running control offense. If we had an average to good quarterback we could do some damage this year. Oh well, you can dream.

I don't think he minds blocking, and he's getting better at it, but for one thing he's just not built for it, and for another, the more he has to block guys twice his size, the weaker his legs are going to be. I'd like to limit his blocking assignments.

Maybe all the blocking Zeke's done is part of the reason he's slowed down over the years.

I do agree it is a good time to do it. This draft class 23 is loaded with running backs

Every draft is loaded with good running backs. It's the easiest position by far to transition into the NFL. Where college running backs struggle coming into the NFL is in their ability to block reliably. Not just in being willing to throw their bodies in between blitzers and QBs but even in knowing which blitzer to throw their bodies at. Rookie running backs almost never have that skill which is why most of them are on the sidelines unless they're actually getting the ball. This notion that you can just draft another Zeke or Pollard and plug them right into a passing offense for 40-50 snaps a game is ludicrous and anyone proposing such a thing is revealing a glaring lack of understanding of how NFL football works.

Zeke and TP are probably the best RB tandem in the league. They are a big reason why this team is in the position it's in. They run, block, catch and score TDs at a rate Emmitt would be proud of. The rush to break that up is mind boggling. Figure the money out and keep the good football players who are operating at a high level.

Ron I know you make a good point I see all these huge contracts in the works. We’re not going to sleep sign up everybody. As you said running running backs are easy to find but why can’t they be coached up?

Pollard not only runs well and is a great change of pace but also lines up sometimes as a slot WR. Will Dallas let him walk? I personally think they try to negotiate a team friendly contract but probably franchise him for one or two years especially since the salary cap is already projected to rise some $15 to $25 million this coming year. The tag is roughly $10 million for 2023 for a RB so it should be no surprise. A second franchise tag in 2024 would be roughly $12 million. As to Zeke, I serious doubt they do anything with him in 2023 but 2024 is a totally different story, a $12 million cap hit if cut or $16.5 million cap hit if stays.

Just for those that want to know.
Cap hit projection for 2023 is $225 to $230 million
Cap hit projection for 2024 is $256 to $265 million
Cap hit projection for 2025 is $290 million

Overthecap and Vegas projections, both have been pretty close to spot on.

I love Pollard, too. But I don't think you can give big money to a RB that can't even be your bell-cow.

Wonderful weapon, but I'd rather throw money and resources at cycling more talent into the OL and DL.

Yes finding a guy to tote the rock is easy to find. And of course they can be coached up on what to do the other 40 snaps when they don't have the ball.. But it takes time. Rookies blow assignments.. That's a fact of life.. If your rookie running back blows his assignment one time too many your QB misses the rest of the season with a cracked collarbone. Much as people hate on Dak no sane person believes this team can do ANYTHING in the post season with Cooper Rush at QB. If Dak can be on for three games we can be playing in February. Np guarantee obviously.. but he has shown the ability to play at the level needed to get this team to the promised land. He should stay at that level with incremental improvement for the next 5-6 years. I don't want him missing extended time in that window because a rookie running back let a linebacker spear him in the back or slam his shoulder into the turf.. Or let a defender get into his lap and bang his thumb off a helmet.

Like many state that Parsons is the heart of the defense and as Parsons goes the defense goes, that is quickly becoming the case for Pollard on offense so if you really let him go next season then good luck trying to find a replacement RB to fill that void.

He has 2100+ carries, counting receptions.

Thats a lot.

There's nobody saying they helped their teams win any championships either..

Houston Oilers with Earl Campbell as their best player made it to two consecutive AFC Title games ------following 1978 & 1979 regular seasons.

Detroit Lions with Barry Sanders as their best player made it to the NFC Title game following the 1991 regular season.
