Pollard quickness

You folks are silly if you think that Pollard is close to Zeke. Pollard goes down way too easy compared to Zeke.

Yeah, Zeke had a bad year, but the whole friggin' team did. O line was trash last season in case you all may have forgotten.

I actually prefer Pollard over Zeke except when it's third and short.

He has a gear Zeke doesn't, and he's much quicker.

However, I don't know if he could take the beating of being a lead back.

He’s a homerun hitter for sure.

If Zeke doesn’t get back to his old form I think I’m in full agreement that Pollard needs to be the main guy and Zeke needs to be done.

Pollard is a walking big play.

I agree! Pollard is built more like a WR and he runs more upright too.

That is Zeke.
Zeke is too good to be running into a brick wall over and over. He would be so much more effective catching balls in the open field along with some running plays. 400 carries a season is killing the bell cow.

Can you give us the stats that show "home run hitter"?

Zeke
1,413 career carries and just 4 runs of 40+ yards (3 of which came in 2016)

Pollard
187 career carries and 3 runs of 40+ yards

As the #2 back that pretty tame. And by "home run"...I consider that long TD's. The #2 "change of pace" back is SUPPOSED to peel off long ones. Fresh legs...you know...that whole "change of pace" routine?

Our #2's have always had insane stats until they start. Remember when Randle had 6.7 ypc. Granted...I picked a soon-to-be mental case...but you know there's more than him.

Pollard didn't even start in college. I am not saying he doesn't have the potential. The real problem here...is not Pollard or Zeke. It's an OC/Scheme that wants to air it out, get those 450 ypg. It's getting WAY behind early. It's a OC/scheme that doesn't really know how to manage this potent 1-2 punch.

Zeke all day every day. Pollard is good at his role. Coaching should do a better job of switching them out.

There's nothing requiring a #2 back to be a change-of-pace (all thunder and lightning). He’s simply the #2 back. And why does a “home run” have to be a TD? It’s about flipping the field on a single play.

And “tame?”

Tame is just 4 career runs of 40+ yards for a Top 3 paid running back. Trait #1 in my book for an elite RB is to be special/dynamic with the ball in his hands. Zeke is a glorified power back at this point in his career.

I also see people try to criticize Pollard for his production in his one start: 12 carries, 69 yards, 5.75 YPC, 2 TDs + 6 rec. for 63 yards. This is bonkers. Would anyone care to see Zeke's game logs from last year?

Zeke has dedicated himself to get in shape this season so we’ll see if he can regain his 2016 form, but I’m not holding my breath. I still think Zeke should get the lion's share of the carries, but we need to stop making him out to be more than what he is.

Watch the games please and stop being a nerd.

Should I provide my sources and do my sources need to be Oxford grads who are experts in the field?
Really? SO asking form "home run stats" is too much to ask?

I didn't agree with it, and ask for the reason for the opinion. Politely.

Doesn't seem that long ago people were ridiculing "eye test". FWIW...I use both. I see Pollard doing about 5-5 2 yard gains...then a 20 yard gain that excites everyone. That isn;t bona fide "home run hitter" in my book.

What I want is an intentionally planned bona fide 1-2 punch from the OC. My "game watching" doesn't see that at all.

Yes.. Yes it is.

Thought pollard showed quickness and burst - hope they use him more than for relief.
Pollard's problem is that Jerry has invested too much time, money and hype on Zeke to give Pollard much of a chance to shine.
I'd take Pollard in a heartbeat over the expensive and washed-up Zeke.

Over the course of emitts LONG and fortunate career...he had a total 0f 17 40+ runs. 5 years he had zero. five years he had just one. three years he had just two. Just two years he had 3.

A good back isn't about 40+ yards.

And let's say you do "flip the field". If you run for 2.3 yard the next 3 plays....so what?

Look...I am a fan of Tony. I think we are very lucky to have these two RBs. But 1) we aren't using them properly...and two...history shows a tad bit of caution replacing zeke with Tony. That is all I am saying.

I think zeke does way more than people give him credit for. "he needs more 40+ yard plays to be good". What the....

I know people are really harping on his "decline", seems like the newest cool thing to do to show your REALLY in the know...but using LAST year to prove it? Come on. We're better than that. Right?

What 4 QB's? Three of them considered not even remotely a threat. A total ship show of an O-line. Not only covid-condensed off season but the guy had covid too.

I'm glad you are HOPING you are wrong...way to show your support! I have some extra poms if you need em.
:hammer:

Okay...and you can fork off, mkay? Better cover up, your agenda is showing.

Since when is asking for some stats to support an opinion an punishable offense? , good lord.... people. Hate em.

I have booked marked this thread. I am sure your reply will go something like:

"Phew GLAD I was wrong".

Unbelievable.
