Pollard is a threat everytime he touches the ball, he can go house anytime as we have witnessed.
Pollard is a playmaker. The guy makes plays. I don't care what your "role" is as long as you get into the end zone.

Starting to wonder if he could command 10M somewhere.

Exactly! Who cares if he's 1st, 2nd 3rd etc... look at his results. He will command and.deserve to get 10m + imo. Now what the FO does is way out of my league... that's why they are billionaires. Although zeke did take them to the cleaners.

Here is a question:

If you could do only one of these things, would you sign OBJ or extend Pollard?

Is he an every down back or a platoon level back?

What is an "every down back"?

A sample of Sunday's top-10 yardage "bell cows" and percentage of offensive downs played:
Nick Chubb, 55% of downs | 14 carries
Dalvin Cook, 60% | 11 carries
Aaron Jones 66% | 12 carries
Jonathan Taylor, 75% | 22 carries
Miles Sanders, 65% | 13 carries

Across NFL only TWO backs averaging over +20 carries. Most every team uses platoon RBs.

1. What is Pollard? Is he an every down back or a platoon level back?

2. If he is viewed as an every down back what might his next contract look like? If he is a RB by committee back what would his contract look like?
He is not an every down back....he's a great situational player....I hope we can keep him and Zeke takes a paycut. If not, let him walk and draft B Robinson from Texas to pair with Pollard.

Zeke's 2023 cap hit is more than his dead cap number, so I think he will be released after this year. I think Austin Ekeler's deal is in line with what Pollard could be offered (4yrs/$24M) as a the lead of a one-two punch RB tandem.

Pollard is a couple of years younger than Ekeler and a lot less usage.

Probably something like 4 years 30-34 million.

He will. Especially if he ups his game in the passing attack.

Not like as a WR, but you can motion him around, etc. Cowboys need to keep working on matching him up like they did against the Vikes to get him open.

Pollard is about what Christian McCaffrey is.

That’s who Pollard compares to.

So saying Pollard is a situational player means someone like McCaffrey is as well.

The truth is Zeke is toast and Pollard needs to be on the field more than him because he produces at an elite level. If anything Zeke should be used based on situations.

IMHO, his “role” is a situational weapon, not an every down back—about 15 carries, plus 5-7 passes per game. Add another 15 carries from a hammer to soften defenses. Either restructure Zeke or draft someone.
