I really like Pollard. But I like the idea of a franchise tag if he wants to go longer than 3 years.

The RB position is very short term and very easy to replace.

I am not interested in paying 2 RB's big dollars. And Zeke is likely in Dallas at least one more year after this one. Hopefully he will be amenable to a pay cut, but I doubt it

Against the Vikings Moore finally used him in both the run game and passing game
That is a really good point.
I have long believed Pollard could be exceptional in the type of role we used him in against the Vikings.
He is a playmaker, a weapon. Get him the ball, either in runs or in the passing game. Get him in space and let him use his quickness to beat defenders in the open field.
The Vikes game was one of the first where Moore used him completely.
If we will continue that, I would consider a good contract offer or even the franchise tag for him.

I do think McCaffrey is a good comparison, and that's bad for the Cowboys.
I think Pollards agent will use that comparison come contract time.
People saying 4/24 are crazy IMO. Pollard was a 4th round pick, he's made peanuts his first 4 years in the league. This is his chance for possibly his one big payday given the short life of RBs in the NFL. He's going to ask for the world, and he should. The franchise tag is not a bad idea, make him prove it for another year, then make the decision on long term or moving on.
Again, only if we use him properly would I do that.

Much respect to Zeke, but what he does could be given by a 3rd or 4th round pick. He is not a playmaker, and this league has become about playmakers. We need a guy like Zeke, who can get us that tough yard here and there, keep those hard carries off your playmaker, passblock, etc (and Zeke is an exceptional blocker), the problem with Zeke is the money.
Nostalgia makes we want Zeke to take a haircut, but honestly, if a 3rd or 4th rounder can give you what he does, at less than a million per for 4 years, Zeke is not going to take that kind of a haircut. The concern is that Jerry still believes Zeke is elite, and he's just not.

Pollard is the new breed of NFL RB. I don't think the market has really been set for it yet but it will be this offseason with about 10 good guys in FA. I say he gets 8-9 mill a year.

Pollard is a playmaker. The guy makes plays. I don't care what your "role" is as long as you get into the end zone.

Starting to wonder if he could command 10M somewhere.

Breaking News: First day of free agency, jags will sign him to a 5yr 93 million dollar deal!
