TRADED Porter traded to Cowboys (2027/6th round, 2028/2nd round)

Cool. Will this help our pass rush which is the actual problem?

Regardless of your thoughts on the actual trade, why do people keep saying this? So putting together a roster and trying to improve your team means you ignore every chance to help your team other than what you deem the biggest need? We still need a RT too, but that is just such a dumb, shortsighted take. Oh, and our CBs stink, so there's that...

Im gonna be in the minority, but I dont hate it for a 2nd. McDuffie went for a 1st. I think McDuffie is a little better, but they are in the same tier
I’m good with it, too. It’s a 2nd in 2028. Only impact to 2027 is a 6th. What’s the likelihood a 6th is anything more than a Practice Squad candidate.

Corner and the front 7 go hand in hand. Both are equally important.

I don't know if you remember a few years ago we got killed even with having a solid pass rush in Micah against the PAckers.

With better corners maybe now you have more confidence in blitzing more.
Right. I can't understand why some do not realize this.
They go hand in hand.
Cover the receiver just a second longer. Allows the pass rush to get to the QB.

Pass rush pressures the QB into throwing it quicker, or an errant pass. More possible for an INT.

Jerry and co are the idiots. giving up a 2nd round pick for a guy who hasn't played at all this year and now has to learn a scheme that the current players on the team still are confused on, ain't gonna do much in the short term...

should've prioritized a pass rusher first....which we've needed since micah was traded
Lol

I’m surprised the Steelers gave him up for a 2nd round pick two years from now when top corners are going for 2 first rounders these days.

he wont play this week. PS this week then the 53 next. Meanwhile, do we even have enough dbs on the roster this week? lol
He will not be on the PS.
He would get poached.
I think in this case. Or they used to. They get a roster exemption for the week, so he can't play. Then next week around Tuesday they will make a roster move.
Unless they have a roster opening since they just put 2 players on IR DTR. Then he will be able to play.

So what should he do? Just suck and give Jets a top 5 pick?
In my opinion they have been heading the wrong direction for years. They are making aggressive moves now because they have no rational plan about a rebuild that should have already begun. They will go till Dak’s legs fall off because that sells currently. Over invest in offense for a decade, then aggressively trade to attempt to build a semi decent defense. It’s a Hail Mary plan-like many I’ve watched Jerry attempt through his career. That Netflix special where he talks about the oil gusher tells anyone what Jerry is at his heart. The Cowboys team building is just an extension of a poorly planned extremely well funded disorganization. A team built on aggressive reaction to current stimuli, but no true vision of what should be the finished product. No one has to be on board with what comes next-I barely watch the games at this point. The drunken ****** having a blast pushing buttons while no one is steering the vehicle is not so interesting in the 30th iteration. Sorry not sorry

We weren't one decent CB away from being a playoff team.

Jerry loves the extremes. We sit on our hands for decade, no trades, no major FA signings and now he's done a 180 and seems intent on trading away every top pick we have in the next two drafts.

LOL.

At this point, the only change that "could" make us a legitimate contender is dump the HC. He's not good enough.
They just traded for one of the best corners in the league.

He may. As he gave up 28. However, I think since the season started. There is an NFL rule players can't switch numbers.
They would have to release Hooker to give JPJ #24.
Porter Jr. can't even get his former college jersey in Dallas either. Turpin wears that number.

Curious what number he gets.

The questions remains. Does a move like this put Dallas over the top? Does it put Dallas into at least the middle of the pack in defense? Does it erase the horrible coaching decisions made during the Ravens game? Does it make Dallas a top 1-5 team in the NFL?
It helps Dallas win the division.

Adding one of the best corners in the league is not going in the wrong direction. They still can make another trade before the trade deadline.
