4.85 was Wilson’s 40 time as a HS senior. He never ran the 40 at either the combine or a pro day. I think it’s fair to say that he would have improved on that time, but not by a crazy amount. I’d say mid 4.6’s is a reasonable guess.

I honestly don’t know much about Dean so don’t know how he does/doesn’t compare to Wilson, but I will say that I think you are undervaluing Wilson’s coverage ability. While yes he does his best work as a tackler in the box, he did play a decent amount of deep zone and was more than serviceable. Kearse played near the line of scrimmage a lot and Wilson was able to develop into a more traditional S role.
Fair point, he did have some coverage abilities.

No he’s not but I’m not against drafting him if he’s BPA, my point is that if we plan on this draft then we need to get starting caliber LG and DT in FA

Can’t ignore FA and then have this draft
With Tyron back, Tyler is going to be their left guard starter. The biggest issue is when Tyron goes down, what plan will they have in place. It might be Wally who they really liked last yr. Can see them drafting a guard, but not high in the draft as this player would start as a reserve

Going to stick with my fa projection during this week's post:

Resigned: Hankins, Rush
Not Resigned: Shultz, Noah Brown, McGovern, Lve, Wilson, Anthony Brown
Veteran Cuts-Zeke
OBJ WR, Wagner LB, Peterson CB, Gay PK

Mock Draft-I see this team going back to more of that 2016 run first mold.

1-Darnell Washington TE-Georgia (Not my top TE, but is an excellent piece to kickstart our rushing attack)
2-Zach Charbonnet RB-UCLA (Might be a little high to take a power back, but really like his fit replacing Zeke)
3-Juluis Brents CB/S Kansas State (Fits that Dan Quinn profile and is very physical)
4-Jonathan Mingo WR Ole Miss (He is that big X receiver, in the Dez Bryant mold)
5a-Trey Dean III S Florida (Will compete to become the starting SS to replace Wilson)
5b-Jared Clark NT Coastal Carolina (Adds depth behind Hankins)
5c-Max Duggan QB TCU (Cowboys have shown a lot of interest with him)
6-Andrew Vorhees G USC (Draft and stash after tearing his acl)
7-Mekhi Gardner CB LSU (Another Dan Quinn type of Corner)
Looks like a very solid draft. That close to where I expect Charbonnet to go

I am on board for the Washington pick.i watched some more highlights and he runs all the routes,he looks like he is lumbering on some of them but it doesnt matter because he can catch over any defender in the NFL.I dont want to spend a 5th on Duggan though.
Kincaid will have a stellar NFL career. Washington won’t. If Kincaid is gone then BPA regardless of position. Fill holes in FA which we won’t do because we’re a dysfunctional organization.

Ya Ive seen that before. Its not legit. I doubt it was even a realistic estimate considering he player slot CB in the SEC
My bad. Safety isn't like corner, it's more about having high level instincts and we have seen slow timed safeties do well in this league.

I’m talking about trying to cover and tackle someone 6’7” and 265 lbs
He is a similar prospect to Mercedes Lewis who also is 6'7. Biggest question is can he become a factor in the passing game? Yes, he is athletic, but he must prove it on the NFL level.

Disagree, like both prospects. Just the matter which type of player you want, one who excels in the passing game or one who does in the run game. Think both have to work on the other areas in their game.

Could be wrong, but I’m not quite ready to talk about Wilson in past tense yet. I know “reports” aren’t good, but Stephen has talked publicly about wanting Wilson back. It will likely just come down to how much another team is willing to pay Wilson.

I’d imagine a realistic salary for Wilson is somewhere in the $7-10M range per year with only like 12-14M guaranteed. If a team goes over that than so be it, but I’d personally rather sign Wilson now before both Hooker and Kearse are free agents next off season.

Safety need is big even if Wilson did resign as Hooker/Kearse are fa's the following yr. Agree, Depending on Wilson's price tag, I would pay a little more to keep him, if that meant getting rid of a player, would consider it like a Lewis or a Gallimore.

I don’t have the same question you do. I think he has a very unique skill set that will make him a weapon in the passing game as well.
