Not sure I understand the hysterics over a limp when jogging. When I'm tired or cramping, I'll have a limp, a hitch or whatever to compensate and won't go full speed. Compare Jaylon's full speed reps to the jog ones you're talking about. There's a different energy level and that's clearly reflected in his acceleration and cutting. When Jaylon is going full speed he looks like he belongs out there. When he's jogging during a half speed rep or on/off the field, who cares? Great starting point for Day 1 of camp.

Yeah, that was the one video that I saw early on that had me concerned too. But do yourself a favor like I did and search out all of the rest of them.

Trust me, you'll feel a whole lot better.

I appreciate it but I doubt I will be feeling a whole lot better. I have played a lot of football in my life and I have had major injuries. I've done rehab and I've come back from those injuries but one thing I know. You don't know nothing until you play with contact, under the full weight of the players and the game. It's one thing to run drills. It's an entirely different thing to deal with lineman and FBs and TE's chipping you and WRs running whams at you.

Bottom line, we won't know until the first time he really gets in and plays under game conditions. Sigh....

I don't know about you but it was much easier for me to go half speed during these kinds of practices then it was to go full tilt with pads.

We don't know that yet. This scheme fits him better than the scheme in Philly, and also better than Carr & Mo.
I will wait to see how it plays out before making such statements.

Granted he struggled with health but Mo is a better CB than Carroll.

People keep talking like Carroll's only issue was scheme fit. It's not.

I have my reservations, but I am willing to wait and see. Fans just act too many times that players suck or write them off because they weren't the player they wanted the team to sign. Or because they weren't an all pro at the previous team. happens quite often, players sometimes just need a change.

This is exactly what I was thinking when he was jogging onto the field. Kinda looked like he was just running lazy more than anything.

but he acknowledges the slight limp which is what most people are saying they saw, me included.

People here act like the only way to be a Cowboys fan is to pretend everything is perfect.

I want to see Jaylon Smith recover and help this defense. A concern or observation that he is limping is not rooting against him.

be a fan, not a sheep.

Did you see a slight limp on any of his other practice clips where he was changing direction fluidly and running side to side? I didn't. So then maybe what the ONE clip was showing was him jogging at the end of the play. I don't think that's being a sheep, simply deductive reasoning.

I don't doubt you. It's more that I just don't care. If you see the guy after the fact and think he's likely to be an impact player, I'll take your word for it.
I agree. Do you know how many players are available in the draft? I heard of Switzer, thought he was a good player but really didn't think he'd be a Cowboy so no sense wasting time evaluating him. Then he becomes a Cowboy, and I pay more attention to his video and read more about him and like what I see.
So now I'm big on Switzer. In fact, I think he will have the biggest impact among the rookies.

Yep. Definitely you get style points if one of your pet cats from before the draft joins the team and is a good player, but there's nothing wrong with coming late to a party and still having a good time. :)

Based on the videos of Jaylon, it looks to me like he can play, limp or no limp.

Of course, the final determinations will be once the pads are on and preseason games. But nothing I have seen so far suggests that he can't play the position.

He won't be a starter. he will be a rotation/situational guy to start the year. We'll see where it goes from there. The talent is definitely there. He is mentally ready. And he looks to be close physically to me.

Yeah, no doubt about it. My gosh, they can say all they want but the guy isn't running very fluid. Then again, it's just a walk through and maybe he didn't have his brace on. Who knows.
I'm optimistic as the next guy, but he is moving slow for a linebacker. I'm not impressed with his speed at all. I hope it's just rust being knocked off.

You are completely in the minority. Jaylon definately looks like a 1st round pick in those clips. Very fast!
Uh, no he doesn't. If that's first-round speed then we're in trouble. The secondary defender coming from farther back for to the ball carrier before Jaylon.

Ok, maybe it's just because I don't have my glasses on. But I see zero limp in the Jaylon video.

Is everyone trolling or am I missing something?
We're not trolling. I watch runners all the time, as a part-time track official and watching my boys run. He does not run fluidly, and I notice a slight hitch in his giddy up.
But I don't see why this is so surprising or shocking. He still needs to wear a brace. That right there tells you he's not at 100 percent.
