I still expect him to end up at the outside spot opposite Brown because I don't think Carroll is as good as either of them at this point. Carroll would then come in on the nickel to play the outside spot while Scandrick slides inside, unless one of the rookies beats out Carroll.

I guess that's part of my surprise with Scandrick and Brown splitting time. I just think Carroll would be the low man on that totem pole.
I remember, now, you and I going back and forth on this, Gimme :)

Carroll is absolutely the lowman, and we're wasting (potential rollover) CAP on him. But we needed him when we signed him. So I'll give the FO a pass on that one.

Plus the fact that he was a supposed scheme mismatch in Philly.

Still, surprised to see OScan fighting for that outside position. It's not a bad thing, for sure, and further proves your previous arguments on OScan.

Same. I'm more surprised that OScan is pushing for the outside, tbh. Moreso than Brown. Brown played really well last season on the outside, I'd expect him to improve and further cement his spot. OScan is saying "ney" to that assumption.

I really, really like OScan in the slot, but if he's fighting for that outside position, that says something about his fight and gumption/determination.

I like Brown on the outside as he's showed last year he's very capable to handle that roll. As for Scandrick, I've always liked him manning the slot as well, but I've been thinking that maybe it would be physically better for him to play the outside. Considering his recovery from major knee surgery, I wonder if playing the outside would be less taxing on his knee. I mean, playing the slot requires more cuts and change of direction than playing the outside.. not to mention it seems the coaches are high on Lewis who played the slot very well in college. Just my observation..

Absolutely, Knot. You present a hell of an argument for OScan on the outside, one I haven't considered, yet: the injury he suffered.

If OScan slides to the outside, I still think Brown gets the other outside slot, w Chido or Lewis fighting for the slot, the other getting pushed out to SS, whether a natural position flex or not.

OScan is a natural destroyer at slot CB, a proven vet. Literally maybe one of the top-10 slot CBs in the league (as you said, taking the sacks, tackles, etc into consideration).

Good stuff, my brother.
