I did not know Tampa gave him a 100 million dollar contract. They've got Mayfield.

So go the next step and work out the guaranteed breakdown and CAP hit (inc the $8m per for the 5 years to cover the existing bonus arrears) . Not that I'm against with your suggestion.Dak will get 60/year, 5 year deal with 2 voided years.
Nobody thinks he's taking a discount (outside of Jerry's loyalty dreams). If youre Dak, why would you take a discount? This could potentially be your last huge NFL contract. I see no reason why he doesn't test the waters in free agency next season. I hope he does
I don't think he will. If he was willing to take a discount I think a deal would already be done. I also think if he were willing to take less money he would have just signed a longer deal last time instead of playing hard ball for the four year agreement. If youre Dak, why would you take a discount? Smaller than the one the Cowboys give Trey Lance...Simple. Make your predictions on Dak's next contract. This will be fun to look back on once Dak actually signs a new deal, whether it's this offseason or next.
BONUS QUESTION: Will it be with the Cowboys or with another team?
I'll start.
Dak signs a 3-year/$160M extension with the Cowboys this summer, with $130M guaranteed. NO no-trade clause this time.
Similar money to Goff, just 1 fewer year.
I'm gonna leave the details to you. I can give an outline of what I believe the contract looks like but the details, guaranteed $, bonuses, how much they want to move to the voided years, i'm just not great at breaking down those details. So go the next step and work out the guaranteed breakdown and CAP hit (inc the $8m per for the 5 years to cover the existing bonus arrears) . I think Dak plays well enough. Im particularly addicted to his regular season turnover numbers. Dude is just safe with the ball. Maybe that is one of his issues. He averages 1INT per playoff game for his career. Playoffs are hard though. Brady had like 4 in a playoff game...so Im not attacking Dak for that at all.lol.. and I only laugh because I'm not sure I can give you clarity.
I think Dak is a good QB.. can he us over the hump.. I'm not sure.
Should the Cowboys re-sign him.. I don't know.. Will the Cowboys re-sign him.. yes I believe they will.
I have never felt this way about a player, ever.. I'm getting splinters in my butt from sitting on the fence.
Thankfully it's not my decision to make.. but if I were betting on what will happen.. my $$ would be on he gets re-signed.
To be honest this off-season so far is doing my head in.. I may be completely wrong.. I'm not going to pretend I know any more than anyone else... opinions are like.. well.. you know the rest
I can pretty much guarantee that isn't the case here. If it were then it would have been super simple to just have Dak sign a longer deal last time around. That's what happened with the Mahomes deal and why (among other reasons) KC is going to be a legitimate super bowl contender for years to come still. Dak's team fought for a shorter contract last time so they can cash in as the cap continues to explode. The forecasting is that Dak wants top QB money one more time and Jerry/Stephen are playing a game of chicken with him.We so sure that deals havent been agreed upon already.
This whole "SHoulda signed him earlier because price just goes up" just plays into Jerry's PR stunts of "bad publicity/controversy is good for business"
With QB market...I dont see how star QB's third contract isnt agreed upon while negotiating the second contract. In a billion dollar industry and with cap restrictions...just seems like it makes sense to game plan/forecast things way in advance
Example while negotiating second contract of star QB:
"Look Dak, we like you, we believe in your on field ability. You outperformed your rookie salary and have put up league leading numbers. We want to pay you on this second contract...pay you like one of the top players in the league. Can we now discuss your expectations for salary based on percentage of CAP you would be expecting on your third contract? We are aware that QB market is in your favor...but we have to be able to build a team around you. Assuming market rates based against percentage of CAP havent gone crazy...are you willing to work with us on your third contract, so that we can put a team around you and get some Post Season success? We dont want to low ball you by any means, we want to pay you...but also want to be able to field a team"
Seems simple to me. I dont care about Agents not wanting to play the reasonable game. Some one has to be reasonable in all this.
Yep, there was nothing in the last contract which indicated France was going to do anything to help out the Cowboys.....including signing a year early (or for a year longer).I can pretty much guarantee that isn't the case here.
