going to be interesting as they figure out the bradley/jones pairing.

wondo/aron make for intriguing 2nd striker options as they are so sneaky.

brad davis really impressed me. very willful player.

love fabian johnson on the back line. what tremendous athleticism.
think he becomes a fixture at leftback after this WC.

klinsman does have a lot of young guys but young guys get better while old guys get worse.

I do not like Bradley in that Center attacking mid role.

Our midfield should not be playing around with the ball. They just can't pass well enough.

Go with a 4-2-3-1, use Bradley and Jones. Defend with 6 the best we can and have Davis Dempsey Zusi with Altidore up top.

that option works if Jozy can handle it but it will be tough at the WC.

The two striker option is my preference at this time.
But I am guessing we'll see both during the games.
Dropping to 4-5-1 with the lead is also an option because our GK is so strong.

yedlin and omar gonzales looked completely outclasses versus the softest side we'll see until at least 2015.
they might need to just move on from gonzales.
yedlin might be great in 4 years but he is one raw kid right now.
wonder if either guys plays the next two warm ups.

yedlin and omar looked fine.Im not saying they should start but they are adequate reserves. Beslar looked sort of shaky if you ask me. i AGREE with Brad Davis being impressive.

bradley just had an off game. He looked incredible playing that position vs mexico in april .He'll bounce back. Not having dempsey had the team a little sketchy.

Maybe.

I just don't like the idea of us passing around with our midfield and back line against these teams in the WC.

I think we should just play like Chelsea. Hold on and hope we can catch them slipping on a counter.

The difference is that Chelsea has a bunch of elite offensive players to capitalize on those opportunities. I don't think that the US does.

I honestly think the best chance the US has is to attack and play fast, they aren't skilled enough to pick their moments. The problem with that is that it exposes their back line, and that unit being able to handle the pressure is questionable.

I agree with the 4-2-3-1 though...which actually makes me think Donovan would be a really good fit lol

That's fine but we still can't play that way for 90 minutes in the WC or we will get slaughtered.

Plus... Our best chance to score is when we get set pieces. That is what we are really good at.

Yea, though I don't trust this team to win games 1-0...they're going to have to score goals. I just don't see them doing that with any success against the likes of Germany without getting in transition.

No, the difference is Chelsea has elite defenders, lol.
They can stymy the best attacks in the world.
There isn't a US player that could play for Chelsea except Julian Green and he'd be on the development team or out on loan.

The US needs Cameron and Besler to play well because Gonzales is just terrible. He is unathletic and shaky.

We'll learn more Sunday at the opponent is a good deal better.

Donovan returning due to injury has intriguing possibilities.
Could be a Klinsman plan to get his mind right with ball.

The US will have to try to win games on set pieces and protect in run of play.

Yea, I said that whole thing backwards pretty much lol

I think Dempsey and Bradley could both carve out a role pretty much anywhere

except Chelsea:)
ok, ok or any of the top 10 overall squads.

Love both of those guys but they'd be competing with Hazard and Matic at Chelsea.

The US talent level is improving but we still don't host truly elite players.
I hate Bradley and Dempsey left Europe for the inferior MLS but money talks. :(

I'm not saying they would replace them...but those two guys can't play every singe minute of every single game.

i expect us to come out and attack vs Ghana. I know ghana has a strong midfield. But their back line and goalie are very poor. Far worse than even ours. If the USA finishes their chances they should be able to pull it off. Against Portugal and Germany , total different strategy . Cant over extend offensively because we will get killed with the Counter attack. Best strategy is Bunker , try to counter attack and take advantage of set pieces.

Behind them are more star caliber guys.
Oscar and the like.
Those guys would get no PT at Chelsea.

Both those guys can play in Europe but likely not for the elite sides.
They are in MLS because they get paid more here than overseas.

The lower end guys at Chelsea make ~60k USD per week.

my prediction remains beat ghana (who i think is real soft this time around)
tie portugal then tie a bored german side.

may require set pieces to score versus germany and portugal tho.
run of play stuff would be risky unless it was a brilliant play.

that would be enough to get through I'm on board with those results. Curious to see if there are any lineup changes come sunday vs Turkey .

I hate MLS is becoming where soccer legends go to die.
We should be grabbing the young guys who are making peanuts and trying to build them here into stars, not the guys at the end of the road paying them like the superstars they once were.

well it use to be that way but recently its changed . Look at Portland , Vancover , and Dallas rosters . Its made up of young players from South America. Funny how all of a sudden David Villa " is washed up " because he signed with NYFC. Yet he started for champions athletico and is on Spain World cup team . But yea "washed up ".
