Romo also had a team with 13 probowlers and a defense that had back to back shutouts
You don't really think those guys were all Pro Bowlers do you.
Come on.
That was back when the fans voted them in and the voting was done mid season.
Dallas took off smoking early in the year and were all the rave.
It was a popularity contest and a joke

That WAS a great team though. It was also Romo's 1st full years as a starter. I'm sure he'd have liked to have those guys 5 years later.

WTH are you talking about? No one is talking about head coaches. We're talking about 2 players. You're trying to extend the goal posts to help your hero?
And you are ignoring reality for your god Dak.

How well did Dak do with Ginger?
You are terrified of reality, aren't you?

That team ran out of gas late in the season; and we saw why Wade Phillips was not much of a HC.
Ken Hamlin, Ellis, Bigg Davis, Gurode, and others had career years that season. None of them were ever as good again. That is why they fell off like they did after 2007. Romo got better but they did not; they got worse.

Dak has tied Romo's playoff wins in half the number of years. Romo never advanced beyond the division around. If Dak can get one more playoff win and advance to the NFC championship game, the Prescott-Romo debate can be put to bed forever.
Are you saying Dak is already better than Joe Namath cause has 2 playoff wins? Dak wins Sunday hes better or just as good as Warren Moon with 3 playoff wins? Johnny Unitas has 4.. So Dak might be better than him this year if he keeps winning? lol

This truly is the dumbest thread ive witnessed in my life. How do you people come up with this bullshlt?

Do you always talk to yourself using hypothetical statements that no one said? Freaky.

2021 was one of the worst defenses we've ever had, when did Romo have the worst of all time?
Also: The main difference that I see is that Prescott may toss a bad throw, but we usually win. Romo would end win or go home games on his own.
These are the Dallas Cowboys defensive rankings for Romo and Dak:

Romo:

2006 20
2007 13
2008 20
2009 2
2010 31
2011 16
2012 24
2013 26
2014 15
2015 16

Dak:

2016 5
2017 13
2018 6
2019 11
2020 28 (Injured game 5, out for the rest of the season)
2021 7
2022 6

Highest for Tony was 2. Worst was 31.
Highest for Dak was 5. Worst was 28.

Dak has consistently had higher ranked defenses than Tony ever had. Tony never had a SB worthy level defense except for the 2009 season. Even his best chance in 2014 it was middle of the pack. No wonder it couldn't stop an injured Rogers.

The number 2 ranked defense was the one that gave up 34 points (4 TDs by the old man Favre) to Minnesota in the divisional playoff game. The same game where Tony was sacked six times and hurried at least a dozen. One of the headlines after the game was "Tony Romo had no chance against the Vikings' pass rush."

Lol. Romo had great teams in 2007 and 2014 and failed as usual.
I always love it when some fans cherry pick certain seasons or stats to disparage Romo as to why they didn't have better success. Several teams have great years that don't translate to playoff success or winning a Super Bowl. By your logic, Steve Young sucks because the 49ers who had great teams in 1992, 1993 and 1995 didn't make the Super Bowl.

FWIW

2021 defense wasn't anywhere remotely near our worst D. They had a rough spell then righted the ship somewhat
  • 7th in points allowed
  • 18th in total yards allowed

And by the way
2013 defense...one of the many crap defenses in the Romo era (though not all were)
  • 32nd in Total Defesne
  • 26th in points allowed
He's referencing the 2020-21 season with Mike Nolan which is by far the worst defense i've ever seen in my life.

Well what great years did Romo have if you are tryin to discount 2007 and 2014? Those were considered the best two years of his career.

This is false
Sorry but its true, he was told to stop freelancing as much as he had in the past. They focused the offense around Murray, remember 1800 yards, 400+ carries.
Are we thinking about the same season? Yes Romo was great that year, because he was under a bit of control.
It's no shame in saying that. Romo was a very good player for us, more eye popping plays than Dak even to this day.
For some reason or another it never translated to playoff success.
2007, 2009, 2014. Three outstanding opportunities.

How I remember it....Roy Williams was probably the one guy who got in based on reputation but it was also not many safeties deserving over him. They had 5 All Pro and 3 1st Team All Pro guys...y'all can try and devalue that team in hindsight but they were stacked.

Mod's, can we create a "Teenager's Zone" where stupid threads like this can be discussed?

I apologize, I messed that up. I meant 2020 under Nolan.

Link? I've seen varying rankings.

2023 and still having this debate? Romo plays for team CBS and currently Dak is the QB of the Cowboys. Romo had his time here and as I said he gave this team something that were lacking it was called hope. After the Henson, Hutchinson, Carter and a bunch of others then old vets it was Romo who gave this team hope. In 12 season and 10 seasons as a starter he and this team were unable to make it beyond division rd. Had some good season and season with a chance of doing something but did not happen. Dak on the other hand was thrown into the fire day 1, it was not the plan to elevate the 3rd string QB for day 1 but due to injury that is the way it played out. Dak did very good job took rookie of the year honors. Dak is our QB people can throw fits all they want and will not change anything. As I said I like them both because I feel they gave and give this team a legit chance at winning a SB
