i hope hes right but prisco was harping even when we were winning last year that our luck was going to run out and we were going to be one of the worst teams in the league because our defense would be to0 atrocious. although to his defense i think most people thought we'd be terrible last year. really hope it turns out that we did get a steal, itd be nice to have a young solid CB for years to come although i still think they may end up moving him to FS.

Don't say that. CB Byron Jones fans will tell you he is a CB and it'd be a waste to mention him as a safety

What's funny is that Prisco had Byron Jones going to the Ravens at 26 in his mock draft. So he thinks it's a great steal and nailed the draft position for the guy as well.

I was told that Byron Jones is nothing but a workout warrior. One coach told me "I almost fell down laughing watching him do corner drills."

Dallas has had one bad 1st round pick in the last five years and that was on a guy that they did not bring in and do extensive homework on. They did their homework on Jones. Although it would be strange to say three or four years ago, this team should probably get the benefit of the doubt when they say that this kid was a good selection.

The critics of this pick are all missing facts about Byron Jones and seemingly using a lot of selective reasoning. Here are a few points to ponder.1.)We drafted a player who played for a former defensive coach for the Cowboys,Paul Pasqualoni has ties here and his assessment of this 4 yr.heady scholar-athlete should carry a lot of wieght, moreso than a run-of-the-mill association with other major conference coaches he owes a lot to Parcells and Jerry Jones for reviving coaching his carreer. 2. Intagibles: 4 year starter, durable player except for labrum tear in second half of senior yr. 3.Intagibles 2,Served as an summer intern on congressional staff this is a heady player who will be hungry to be a student of the game-very important for a DB.4. Workout warrior is not a curse its a testament to the players commitment to building his body into NFL size and shape,it's indicative of a work ethic to build your legs to a 44 in. vertical and world record broad jump strength.I liked the pick a lot and hoped he would get through PITT as he's a Troy Polamalu starter kit at FS if they move him there.CB was a position of great need and CB is one of the required premium positions on the field.

Funny but Garret said we didnt just draft a workout warrior here. wonder if this dude is taking Garretts words and twisiting them and also adding them to another "coach's" opinion

The Cowboys said he'd start at corner but that his flexibility is appealing. This isn't a terribly complicated concept.

I was being sarcastic because I got bashed for pointing pre draft that safeties need to be able to tackle better than CBs and someone then replied to me that mentioning him as a safety is stupid. All from a Byron supporter who could never show me film of his greatness.

Wait which face do I use for sarcasm :rolleyes: this one?

I do not get why so many are harping over this pick. Is it because their pet was not picked instead? The value is there. The talent is there. The athletic ability is there. The intelligence is there. The dedication to the game is there.

Jones was ranked on many boards much higher than where Dallas picked him. He fills a huge need. I'm personally excited with the pick and look forward to seeing him in the starting lineup.

That's silliness.
He missed a bunch of games last year and played some hurt.
After going back and looking at everything I could find on him, the film was far better than I'd originally thought it would be.
It got to a point where opposing teams were trying to move their top WRs around to avoid him.

Are you bashing him or endorsing him? Forget him as a safety if he was hurt all year. I watched two game films where he went down on minimal slap on the wrist contact. He was hurt all last year. Yikes

I was for taking Brown, but I think Jones will end up being very good.
He still has some developing to do and I think he'll take to it well in the long term.
He was the 27th pick, not the 10th.

I tend to trust Marineli and McClay a bit more than some of our YouTube scouts. But hey, that's what forums are for.

Guess we'll know in a couple of years.
