They don't go in as a player to a certain team as much. And if associated with a certain team, it is what team they made the most production with, not the last tam they played for.
Every fan will associate Ware with Dallas, not Denver.

Also if associated with a team, the player can choose as when Deion Sanders went in, he had mentioned the Falcons, but he was not inducted as a Falcons only player IIRC.

it changed some time in the 90s or early 00s.
but in the old days they went in as a member of a certain team.

i miss the enshrinee's portrait.
they would unveil it alongside the bust.
they were beautiful prints showing the player in action...if the player played for multiple teams he would choose which team he wanted recognized in the print.
when the artist died...in the late 90s if i remember...they ended that tradition.
now its just the bust.
i wish the league would publish a book of those prints.

Don’t remember him retiring as a Cowboy. All I remember was that he wasn’t happy about having to take a pay cut and refused. He was then released.

I'm praying Chuck Howley gets in but it's far too long overdue for him to truly appreciate it because of his dementia. The system needs to be fixed so that this type of situation stops happening. If he's worthy now then he was worthy 25 years ago. Just saying.

If they don’t put Howley in this time, they should require all voters sit and watch film of him playing. It’s insane! He was decades ahead of his time as a LB making interceptions all over the field. His stats and honors outshadow most other candidates.

they used to do these for each enshrinee...painted in the team colors.
they used the same artist until he passed away and thats when the portraits stopped.
