Keep in mind, they pretty much knew Tyron issues the first of the week. So they've had ALL week to put THIS unit together, it's not they're throwing pieces together at the last min. This is apparently what they believe is best .....at least for this game.

I still wanted to start Tyron Smith with a leg brace on his arm and one of those Pacific Rim Robot costumes around his neck.

Did we not just sign a RT who has started like 80 NFL games. Did I just imagine this?

Didn't Knight get abused on those last two plays against Seattle?

They seem more concerned about protecting the middle of the line than they are about the edge.

I think it may be more of a reflection on how the team feels about McGovern than it does anything else.

It could be they see playing Steele at OT is a lesser evil than playing McGovern at OG (and kicking Martin out to OT).
This is a very fair statement. We, as fans, don't have a good feel for McGovern, but a lot of fans simply assume he is a good alternative anyway.

Exactly......coz he was 3rd round pick I assume. The fact they were willing to bring Leary back speaks directly to the lack of confidence in McG IMO.

1. Zach Martin
2. Connor Williams
3. Jordan Mills 7 years experience
4. Greg Senat 3 years experience
5. Eric Smith (udfa) 1 year experience
6. William Sweet (udfa) 1 year experience

Mills should be out there unless he doesn't know the system.

Senat has been in the league, not much playing time tho.

Cowboys are in the process of finding out if Smith or Sweet can do something.

Leaving out Martin n Williams who can play OT. Mills has way more experience as a starter in the league. Then between Senat, Smith and Sweet could they be better than a non priority udfa? Idk but they have 4 guys that'll give it a shot.
Martin and Williams haven't played OT for many years, and, of course, moving them would create a hole at OG. Are we really that sure the OG replacement would be acceptable, or even that Williams can perform at OT in the NFL?

As for Jordan Mills, he hasn't played regularly since 2018, so how sure can we, as fans sitting at home, be that he would be an improvement. There very likely was a reason he was sitting at home when the Cowboys signed him a few weeks ago.

Saying Senat has 3 years experience is pretty misleading. He has never played a regular season snap, or even been on a 53 man roster more than a couple of weeks. We have nothing to go on that indicates he would be better than Steele.

Eric Smith and William Sweet also have never played a regular season NFL snap, and we also have nothing to go on that indicates they are any better than Steele.
