QB's (not named Brady) who played in the last 17 Super-Bowls & Draft Positions

So the Bears won the SB because Rex Grossman was a first round pick? The league does not use this data lol…if they did they’d never draft a qb past the first round lol.
Ahem...the 2006 NFC Champion Chicago Bears did not win the SB with 2003 1st round \ 22nd overall pick QB Rex Grossman as their starter.
Bears lost to the Colts in SB XLI (41) 17 - 29.

QB's who played in the Super-bowl, from 2007, and their draft round:
Brady, a 6th round pick, is excluded from this list.
Round/Player

1 Manning

Means nothing. Now list the dozens and dozens of quarterbacks drafted in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounds who were complete busts.

Quarterbacks get drafted early just because they're quarterbacks.

Brady is the exception that proves the premise.

He is an outlier.

There have been over a hundred QBs picked in the last 15 years throughout the draft.

IF you draft one 4th or lower your odds are very bad compared to drafting one in the first.

wilson like brees was not drafted higher because of their somewhat diminutive size.

Looking at the history of the SB very few low or undrafted QBs have ever gotten there let alone won. So Dak's odds are pretty bad. Warner and Brady over the last 20 years are the only ones either low rd or UDFA to win the game. No way to sugarcoat it. And anyone comparing Dak to either one....
Some non-1st round QBs:
Tom Brady
Joe Montana
Roger Staubach
Johnny Unitas
Kurt Warner
Drew Brees
Brett Favre
Russell Wilson

Super Bowl MVP QBs since 1999:
1st Round: 7
Non-1st Round: 9

1st/2nd round players in general are going to be more successful overall.

Super Bowl MVP QBs since 1999:
1st Round: 7
Non-1st Round: 9
And Tom Brady is over half of the second group. The lone other member of the second group that wasn’t a day 2 QB won his SB MVP in the previous millenium.

Why exclude the guy that played in and won more than twice as many as anybody and was a 6th round pick?

Anyone want to take a cracks at the list of first round QB selections who never made it to a Super Bowl?
Long. But that doesn’t change that the hit rate for 1st rounders getting to the Super Bowl is by far the highest and only 4 QBs drafted in the 3rd round or later have made it to the Super Bowl.

Teams need more than one QB in case of injury. They’ll always keep drafting QBs on day 3. No team is scrounging around in round 4 for their franchise QB

And Rex Grossman never won the SB
I meant WENT to the SB. Rex Grossman is a name the OP brought. IS that why they went to the SB? Because he was a 1st round pick?

Ok you're the second person to bring this up. I meant to say "went" to the SB. Regardless I misspoke but the original thread lists Rex Grossman as a 1st rounder who went to the SB. This thread is about guys who WENT to the SB. The Bears went to the SB with Rex Grossman and i'm asking did they do that because he was a 1st round pick?

I don’t understand what you’re asking. Did it hurt them that he was a first round pick? Had he been worse of a QB, it would have inhibited their chances of making the SB

10 years of Garrett. 7 years of Dak. Same results. Stop the experiment and start drafting a real QB.

There have been 150 quarterbacks drafted in the first 3 rounds since 2007. Only 9 (6%) have made it to a Super Bowl.

The absolute frequency of a quarterback playing in a Super Bowl is low, regardless of draft round.
Multiple errors. On recount 92 quarterbacks have been drafted in the first 3 rounds since 2007. Only 11 (12%) have made it to a Super Bowl.

Yet. 2024 his real money comes due. Do you see Dak signing a long enough deal to cover it & make his new salary a non team issue?
Dak already got most of his money up front. He doesn't get "paid" in 2024. That's just when the Cap Hit occurs.
