He is not 20 percent this season and not over 20 last year. You can’t talk about something that hasn’t happened yet.
He impacts how Dallas signs players longterm. No team is stupid enough to ignore future cap problems. Of course you can talk about what impact it has after this year. Restructuring is a safety net for this year but compounds problems in future years. It’s one of the major reasons teams carry cap space, because they can’t just sign a notable guy for 1 year and done, they need that future money open.

Nobody cares about years down the road. It’s about now. We don’t even know what the salary cap is years down the line.

Jake Delhomme is the last QB (except Brady) to start in the Super Bowl that wasn’t taken by pick 88 of the draft.

yep, and garrett worked out well too. If you ain't trying to make the team better you are doing nothing. I guess winning some games is enough.
The problem with you and many others here is you want to use premium draft picks trying to get better at QB. You seem to think it’s going to be easy getting better at QB because you’re one of those who thinks Dak isn’t any good. The Cowboys have only won 4 playoff games the last 27 years and 2 of those playoff wins were with him. Less than 50% of the QBs drafted in the first round pan out. If you keep missing on those picks you get worse. The Jets, Browns and Washington continue to struggle because all the first round QBs they draft go bust. I can’t blame them for taking chances because they’re desperate. The Cowboys aren’t nearly as bad off as they are, but it was up to fans like you they would be.

here's your problem, you think we can't find another guy who can't win anything just like dak has done?
the best benefit from the new guy who doesn't win anything is they can upgrade the lines and the defense.

You are a player fan, not a team fan. You can't even see it.

One thing I would like to commend you on is not insulting people with a different view, unlike the other 99 percent of dak fans

You’re completely wrong if you think I’m a player fan and some Dak homer. I was as critical of Dak as anyone last season for some of the poor games he played. I’m on record saying I’ve lost some confidence in him and that he’s regressed. However, we’re still winning games with him and when he plays well, he’s outstanding. It’s going to be very difficult to find a QB that’s better than him but you don’t seem to get that. Just look around the league at the QBs that fail. I would rather have him than some of the castoffs some of you would rather have. The Jets have had two QBs taken in the top five go bust in the last six years. You’re obviously a complete Dak hater if you can’t see that he’s better than most of the QBs in the league. There’s only a few QBs that are better than him.

Is winning some games the final goal.? not the big game, so what would be the difference in winning nothing with a new guy, just like dak has done? Is this the team's goal just to win some games and that's it? serious question

well, that solves the problem. It's time to move up to a 1 or 2, 4 isn't going to get it done.
But isn't it ironic that Prescott (4th round) is held to higher standards than those 1st and second rounders. There are a couple of quarterbacks in those 1st and 2nd rounders that didn't win their first playoff game before Dak did and also didn't go to and/or win their first superbowls until after their 7th seasons....

Yet Dak is a 4th rounder who only played 6 full seasons and treated worse than those 1st and 2nd rounders who didn't win it all in the same amount of time Dak played full seasons.

(Let the spin job and excuses for those higher drafted quarterbacks begin)

what would be the difference between picking a guy in the first couple of rounds and not winning the big game and dak not winning the big games? salary about it?

You have to win enough games to get to the big game. The first thing you have to do is find a QB that gives you a chance and can get you to the playoffs. Dak has a better winning percentage than most of the QBs in the league. The goal is to win a championship but you can’t just move on from a good QB because you’re not getting over the hump, unless you think they’re the main reason. Dak isn’t the sole reason we’ve stumbled in the playoffs the last two years. Trying to improve on him could lead to years of futility. We could go from having a chance to having no chance if the QB we replace him with is a lesser QB. This has happened to teams many times. They move on from a good starting QB, looking for a great one and end up getting worse.

What I'm saying is... there are 1st and 2nd round drafted quarterbacks on that list that didn't have a their first playoff win before Dak did. There are also some great 1st and quarterbacks on that list that didn't make it to the Superbowl in the first 6 full seasons of playing in the NFL, just like Dak hasn't, yet Dak is talked about worse than those 1st and 2nd round drafted quarterbacks.

Make that make sense....

* I stated 6 seasons due to the missed injured season.

so it's time for those teams to find a replacement unless they are just happy being semi-relevant?

so we should be scared to chance on getting better?

You don't want to hold Dak to that high of standard?
