I mean against Tampa Bay in particular we also used the short passing game outside to substitute for trying to run against the front 7. But we still had a time of possession advantage by like 10 minutes. But generally, throwing 50 times means your defense isn't stopping anyone, you are behind, and need to score quickly. People truly do not understand the idea that 'correlation is not causation'...people say "we should run more and we will win, why do they refuse to do that", instead of realizing that teams that are winning can afford to run more and burn clock, even if it doesn't result in points. There is a diference between saying...Dak played a great game..it sucks we lost..opposed to Dak threw the ball 50 times thats why we lost.....No
The problem is and has been Dak has to throw the ball 50+ times lately because we can not stop anyone....I get some do not like certain posters or players but that is no excuse for being blind to what the problem this team is having really is...If you seriosuly think HC and QB are on the sidelines saying "lets pass some more those stats are cooking" then Reality left the building a while back....More likley they are looking at the defense saying "yeah...we need to score and keep it comming as they are not slowing down...
BS
Y'all don't get it.
Sometimes you have to pass that many times when the game dictates it, especially if you fail to be able to run the football effectively against your opponent.
Our Oline was unable to open holes for Zeke and Tony because of having to go up against the #1 ranked front 7 defense (SB Champs as well), so the Cowboys had no choice but to use their WR weapons and pass the ball 50+ times. Guess what? The Cowboys almost won...and actually should have won if it wasn't for mistakes by several key players, so that proves this theory wrong.
Had the Cowboys forced the run just to please the critics, they still would not have rushed for anywhere near 100 yards and most likely lost by a lot more than 2 points.
In other words, we DO NOT want Dak passing 50 times a game.......
that isnt the case with dallas or some other teams. Why do people have such a hard time with cause and effect?
When you're losing, you have to pass, so you throw a lot of passes. Usually you lose anyway, because, well, you're already behind. That's the large majority of 50-pass games.
When you're winning, you start running the ball a lot, so you end up with a lot of rushes and rushing yards. Usually you win, because, well, you're already ahead.
If you can't understand the difference between most 50-pass games and what was happening last week (and why it happened), you need to watch more football.
Your comment is...
I don’t like Dak throwing that much either but I think says more about the defense than anything else
In other words, we DO NOT want Dak passing 50 times a game.......
you dont know thatIt’s not ideal of course and won’t happen most weeks but if we passed 25 times we lose by 20 plus points last week. Each week is different. Not sure why that is tough to grasp.
The Eagles did not allow a 100 yard rusher in 53 straight games until Emmitt rushed for 100+ yards in November 1992.If we'd never ran against 8 man fronts, Emmitt wouldn't be the all time leader in rushing yards. -Troy Aikman
Those three yard runs in the first quarter become four yard runs in the second quarter. Those four yard runs in the third quarter, become six yard runs in the fourth quarter. AKA...running the ball wears down a defense.
There can be no success without effort.
When the game plan calls for it. But remember the run when Elliot picked up a big chunk of yards. I think the TE missed a block. Anyways, when MM or Moore saw that then they should have seen that hole and ran more toss plays. I remember one reason I didn’t like our last HC was because he would not change the plan when something was not working. He just kept with the game plan.
