Question From a Commanders Fan

Cutting Harris was probably the biggest upgrade our secondary could have made. Harris had to have had one of the worst years I've ever seen by a cornerback. He made Will Allen look like Darrell Green.

However, this thread is quickly getting off-topic. I was hoping it wouldn't turn into a Commanders vs. Cowboys thread, as that can obviously not be solved by anyone but the two teams themselves...

I still like our defense a little better, but I like your offense a lot better, to put in a nut shell. I also like your overall coaching staff better than ours to. Maybe Parcells and Gibbs are about equal, but your offensive and defensive coordinators are definitely better. Maybe I give Gibbs a slight advantage over Parcells, because he's more adaptable. If you want to rile us up, you wont get much argument from me, because i like and understand what your team is doing(the three small, but productive wideouts) in an era where you can't mug the receivers makes sense. Our having only one proven receiver who has age and size concerns makes no sense.

Clinton Portis' little characters are perhaps one of the most ignorant and intellectually offensive things I have ever seen a football player do.

Aw come on, you can at least admit their funny. :D

Not funny in the least. I suppose my humor has transcended the grade school level.

I guess that is why he is so adored in Washington. He appeals to the IQ level.

Honestly, they are not. Most Skins fans I know thought they were pretty grade school-ish as well.

Rich.......
didn't think they were offensive, though

We don't call you a Darksider, we call you a Commanders fan.

How come these Commander fans don't know me? How come I'm called Kartr and not Brunell or Campbell? I'm just objective about my teams strenths and weaknesses as well as other teams. I've always been an admirer of Brunell and a Bledsoe hater and he's done nothing to show me he will lead us anywhere. That early 7-3 record last year was mostly compiled of teams who didn't make the playoffs(Chargers,Cardinals,Lions,Eagles,9'ers or the Giants and their baby qb who was off his game on the road). Don't tell me about Flozell again, Brady got it done with Dillon injured,OL problems and pedestrian receivers, and he played in the tougher conference. Bledsoe couldn't get it done with Culpepper and McNabb injured most of the season. Things were wide open for us last year and Bledsoe fumbled and literally so.

Oh, be serious. How do I know if these or other Commanders fans know you, or by what handle you go by on ES. I'm not even interested in who you really are.

I *do* know that there's no such thing as a Quincy Carter fan. Anywhere. Much less in Dallas. And I know you're opinions are sufficiently unimaginative and off-base to peg you for a Commander fan, but that's just a guess.

Oh, and you love what the Commanders have at QB. Come on.

I think I'll decline to be baited into this type of discussion with you, if you don't mind.

Of course, with any kind of kicking game da 'boys go 12-4 or 13-3 but blaming the QB is so much fun for the un-informed fan :) I would rather have Brady or Manning (from a youth perspective) but Mark Brunnell is an IR report waiting to happen. You have to go with Bledsoe, primarily for the health aspect.

Fred Smoot is a much better cover corner than Toast, dont fool yourself

Rogers got beat worse than a redneck wife who forgot dinner

Totally disagree, Smoot got worked ALL season in Minnesota. Rogers and Springs are bigger hitters than Smoot and with a LOT less attitude.

Brunell's health wasn't an issue last year, but Bledsoe's game management failures(throws the winning int to Seattle,Denver and tried to do the same in the second Philly game) speaks for themselves. Brunell was more efficient with one receiver, Moss and one back, Portis than Bledsoe was with two of each.

Cause you'd lose and you know it, little man.

Skins fan do you realize the Skins are ...once again over paying for some talent thats very overvalued. In all actuallity several of the Players they've signed I would not want for the monies they've spent. For example Randal L is a good player but not for the contract he received. THis guy has been a 3rd Receiver for the Steelers that in my opinion couldn't even be a 1 or 2 for them. He does help on trick plays and returns but still not for the monies spent. Remember the return man for the Jets or the ex-jets Receiver they signed what did they really do for the Skins....NOTHING. In truthfulness alot of these signings are descent players that are being paid as ProBowl Players which they are not. The Skins will remain in Cap Hell because Snyder likes spending during Free Agency like boys like collecting Football Cards, he likes the names of the Players he signs rather than looking at what they will do for the Commanders two or three years down the road. If you look at the Cowboy teams of the early 90's that won three Superbowls those teams were built through the Draft not through signing players who's contracts were expired. Those teams were very young and hungry and in honesty when you find these players that are young, hungry and constantly improving the team rises and in many cases will go further than a Veteran team who loses their legs late in the season.

Actually it was. Once he got hurt in the Giants game he was pretty ineffective.

His numbers against Philly, TB, and the Seahawks were the following:

49.4% completion
5.5 YPA
141 yards per game
2 TD's
2 INT's
64 QB rating

That's been the knock on Brunnell since his JAX days in that sooner or later he gets banged up or hurt and his performance drops off dramatically.

but Bledsoe's game management failures(throws the winning int to Seattle,Denver and tried to do the same in the second Philly game)
speaks for themselves.[/QUOTE]

Bledsoe was a big reason why they were in the Denver game and you're also forgetting the games he had against KC and Carolina.

The biggest part you're forgetting is that when Flozell Adams was in the lineup, his QB rating was 100. Without Flozell, his QB rating was a 72.

Coincidence? I don't think so.

Brunell was more efficient with one receiver, Moss and one back, Portis than Bledsoe was with two of each.

Brunnell was barely more efficient as his 85 QB rating barely outmatches Bledsoe's 83 QB rating.

Brunnell had a far superior O-Line that did a far better job of run blocking. So even though Dallas has two promising tailbacks, the Washington running game was far better.

While I like Terry Glenn, Santana Moss was just a far better WR last season. Keyshawn was better than Patten, but was often brought in towards the line of scrimmage to help in pass protection. I like Witten over Cooley in pass patterns, but once Flozell went down, Witten spent a lot more time helping out Petitti and Tucker.

In the end, Brunnell was better than Bledsoe by a hair. But Brunnell had a far better O-Line and arguably better weapons surrounding him.

Rich........

If the Cowboys sign TO and Vinitieri, which appears highly probable, that will be game, set, match for the NFC East. No way Philly, Deadskins or Gints will be able to stop the Cowboys offense at that point.

Heck if we had just had Vinitieri last year, we would have walked away with the division at 13-3.

As for comparing, I learned a long time ago that you need to finish the process before comparing the results. Free agency is far from over.

Actually, Brunnell had a field goal kicker to work with. If Bledsoe had that last year, the Cowboys would have walked all over the division.

the best way to build a team is by drafting well in rounds 2-7 and not getting a bust with the first round pick!!!

what the Skins are doing is not only offsetting the pay scale of players in the NFL but their own team... when you sign an ARCHULETTA toa 10 million bonus what does SEAN TAYLOR get... I would say his value to the team would warrent at least 15 nillion!!! the same goes for Randle El and Moss who is coming off a career year!!! You would expect the agents of both these players are ready to cash in sooner than later!!!

I have always felt teams improve by making the players already on their roster better players... the COWBOYS have been a mixed bag in this area due to a suspect coaching staff... the areas of OLINE and WR have suffered the most!

the key for the COWBOYS is not signing FREE AGENTS the key is to post BACK to BACK stellar drafts this April... and getting more out of the young talent! Guys like JULES, BARBER, WARE, WITTEN, and SPEARS have to step up and put up PRO BOWL numbers... guys like PETITE, ROGERS, BRUNETT, GURODE have to be solid STARTERS!

if that happens it wont matter what the skins do!!!
