If the Cowboys lose again in the first round at home to a team that they have beat two times before...

You Fire Phillips.

I agree.

This playoff-win drought is getting ridiculous. The recent success has raised the stakes for this team .... they HAVE to win this game.

I wouldn't settle for a loss in this game and I'm surprised anyone else here (or at Valley Ranch) would either.

WADE gone

Garett is HC

Herring as DC

but there are other possibilities at DC - Ron Aiken, Thomas "Pepper" Johnson
Keith Butler Byran Cox
I see this as a step backwards...at least in the short term.

Huge step backwards. How is Garrett ready for HC responsibilities. He and offensive guy and he is up and down as the OC. Mostly down in my opinion. At least Wade knows Defense.

I think you would have to get rid of Wade Phillips.

Regardless, I believe the decision to keep Wade Phillips has already been made.

It sounds like he's strongly leaning towards keeping Wade, but I dont think he's 100% made up his mind. A win probably makes it 100%, but I'm not sure he's a lock to come back with a loss. The team is fairly healthy, playing at home and playing a team we've beaten twice already. Unless the loss is some sort of flukey situation, I think a loss= Wade not back.

Honestly, if it is a choice between Wade and Cowher, Jerra would have to be a moron to re-sign the former and not the latter.
there is just no comparison between humpty-dumpty and Cowher.

How can you say that? Cowher was a HC ALOT longer than Wade has been. Cowher won one super bowl, and that was only because his team got a tremendous assist from the refs. They were outplayed badly that game. He lost several home playoff games when his team was favored. He was the only person in the Stealer organization apparently who believed Kordell Stewart was a QB.

I'd venture to say that if Wade was a HC as long as Cowher was, he'd easily have the same results.

Cowher coached 15 seasons. He got to the postseason 10 times and overall won 62.3% of his regular season games and was 12-9 in the postseason. In 8 of the 10 postseasons his team won only 1 game or no games.

Wade's been a fulltime HC for 8 seasons total. In those 8 seasons he has a record of 78-50, which is a winning percentage of 60.9%. In 5 of the 8 seasons he's got his team to the playoffs.

The only things Cowher has on Wade is 1) he was a HC alot longer and 2) he has some playoff wins. And he didnt win a playoff game in his first two tries and won only 1 in his 3rd try. He lost home playoff games after the 92, 94, 97, 2001 and 2004 seasons.

I think Jerry will keep him regardless of the outcome. The only option that I would have considered was Shanny or the Walrus, they can keep the chin. I am still on the fence regarding Red; I would like to see Red one more season as a coordinator.

Commentary: I don’t understand why some fans like concentrating on potential negatives. Let's play the game and leave the negative hypotheticals at the gate. This is our best chance at winning a superbowl since 1995. We are healthy, the defense is stout, and Romo is playing lights out. I rather focus my energy on the positives, besides there is a strong possibility that both will be back. The head coaching market is dry as a bone and I don’t know of any 3-4 coordinators that won’t screw up what we have going.
There will be plenty of time for ruing and gnashing of teeth. For now crack open a beer and getcha your popcorn ready.

Keep believing...

Question: NO JOKES just honest answers !!! Just looking for various opinions. If the Cowboys lose to the Eagles Saturday night say 28-14 and your the Owner of the Boyz would you:

1) Take the Option on Wade Phillips Contract for 2010
2) Sign Wade to a new 3 year Deal
3) Go after Bill Cowher as HC

I would lean in direction #3.

Very overrated. No way the yokels here will wait 14 years for a superbowl.

I say regarless of what happens he keeps Wade. Think about it, this team has really come together and with the Superbowl being at The Cowboys Stadium next year why would Jerry make any changes. We could be the 1st team to play a Superbowl in our home stadium......

Dallas' destiny is to win this Saturday and hopefully go really far ... How far is yet to be determined. I know the players wont dare say Super Bowl because they are of a mindset to work hard for it this season. Back in 2007 I think they kind of ate the media cheese and let up on the momentum at the end of the season. This year they still remember what losing it all after going so far feels like and even the thud of last year's season. I think they really want it this year, all of the phases of their game are at max... I can't wait for this game... just wow

4) Things look like they are gelling. Maybe one year. Otherwise, it's time for Big Red.

You want honesty??

OK, I honestly hate threads about "if the Cowboys lose this game"... I mean, what's the freakin' point of assuming a loss??

The question you want to ask is premature, and if the Cowboys WIN, is moot...

Wait until the Cowboys lose the game to start a thread like this... otherwise, you come off as if you're HOPING they lose, because you want so badly to get rid of Wade...

IOW, this thread sucks... we've got a huge game coming up, and THIS crapola is what you want to talk about??

How completely pathetic...

Wade has this franchise headed in the right direction which is more important than the outcome of any single game. This team is good enough that it should be competing for Super Bowls the next 5 years. Since he is an important reason we have come this far I think he should get a chance to drive this team again one more year. I'd even be okay with 3 more years. At that point, it'll probably be time for new blood.

The future of this team is Garrett but he needs some more time to work on his offense design and playcalling before he moves up to HC so I think he will benefit as well. In the meantime, he can keep working on trying to find the next QB to groom after Romo.
