Your buddy is correct. Talks are still ongoing. It doesn't mean anything will happen though. I still have my fingers crossed.TtownCowboy;2065588 said:I'm sure I'll get roasted for this, but it is a serious question about a rumor. That's why I'm asking. Buddy of mine gets sports talk out of Dallas and said some guy named David Smoat (sp) has a Sunday evening talk show and the Sunday night after the draft, yes after the draft, claims the Roy Williams WR to Dallas is by no means dead and he believes Dallas/Detroit are still working on something. To my question. Has anyone heard this, heard of this Smoat guy or have any info to the contrary or the same. Thanks for any responses. Flame on for me keeping up the RW to Dallas stuff.

Same source that told me in September said it is not dead.Cowboys22;2065662 said:Can you tell us how you know this or are you being funny?
AdamJT13;2065633 said:Next year's first and second are worth the same as this year's second and third. You wouldn't give up Martellus Bennett and a third-round pick for Roy Williams? We will have a ton of picks in Rounds 3-7, so we'd still have the ammunition to trade up into the second round if we want someone there.
As far has his contract, the Lions are almost certainly going to franchise him next year, so you'd still be in the same situation if you wanted to get him.

utrunner07;2065609 said:WAY too much! A first is stretching it...personally I don't think its ever worth it to trade a first rounder away (especially a year out), I could see it being ok in this situation but would be leery. A 1 and 2 would be too much though.

Now you know why the deal is not dead. They want to get something for him, but to this point are asking too much. That may be what kills it completely, but for now...I hold out hope.

He has a forum full of info HERE...
Smoaky doesn't delve into outrageous rumor and soundly researches his work...

BTW, there are people here who can confirm I told them this. Friday before the Draft Detroit called Jerry. Not Jerry called them.
I have no details about what they are asking for nor what we are offering at this point.
Jerry himself when questioned after the Draft said he might have to wait until this summer to add the Veteran WR. There's an article in the Daily Zone that mentions it. Click on that link. It's near the bottom.
Even when the Draft was over I posted a couple of comments that the deal was not dead. That's exactly what I have been told. "The deal is not dead yet."
He sure wants to.TtownCowboy;2065729 said:Thanks for the info. Maybe the horse isn't dead yet. Let's keep whoopin it. I'd sure like to have that stud playing for Dallas.
