Quickest release ever?

Marino was pretty slick moving in the pocket avoiding the rush at the last second. He didn't get sacked too often early in his career.
Too bad Marino didn't want a running game. He could've been the one.

There's no question. Romo's release is faster than Marino's, his arm is stronger than Elway's, he's more accurate than Aikman, he's faster than Vick, he dates finer women than Namath, and he dances better than Emmitt. I'm not prepared to say that he's smarter than Einstein because after all, he's only started 3 games and I don't want to get carried away.

All I know for sure is that Byron Leftwich has the slooowwweesst release I have ever seen.

Slowest, longest, roundest, bottom to top release:lmao2:

Romo's throwing motion is so quick it is amazing! He makes his reads very fast and he holds the ball high to begin with so when he decides to throw it is a very quick motion to get the ball out. To me it looks quicker than Marino's, at least from a mechanics/technique aspect.

Some of it may also be the routes the receivers are running. Duper & Clayton were deep threats and didn't run a lot of short routes while Owens is more of a short route runner. That said, I believe his motion is quicker than Marino's was. I think Marino had a stronger arm and was a bit more accurate.

THUMPER--you are seeing what I am seeing.....I agree Marino's arm was stronger........but that ROMO release/motion.....blazing!

There are no geniuses in football. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.

Leftwich has a long motion, but he still seems to get rid of the ball faster than Randall Cunningham.

I don't quite remember Randall's release... but I've seen Lefty play in person and his throwing motion is painful to watch... it looked 10x slower than it does on TV.

I always thought Dan Marino had the quickest release I EVER seen, HOWEVER,

I believe ROMO's release is a little bit faster!

Thoughts? Am I missing the boat on this?

I see...So that's why they call you CrazyCowboy. :p:

He does have a quick release but I still think Marino's was quicker. Good observation, though.

I watched some of the Raiders game last week on direct tv and their qb's release might even be slower then Leftwich

I grew up in Florida and have seen many Dolphin games and I havent seen anyone duplicate the release of Marino.
He was truely a great player on a less than great team!
I always wondered how much better Marino would be thought of if he played for Dallas teams of the 90's.
I dont think Aikman was near the skill level of Dan the man!
IMO

romo is a ways off from marino or even namath. There have probably been a ton of guys with quick releases that never made it big enough for us to remember.
I tried to throw the football the other day quick as I could and it went ten yard to the left of where I was aiming. I don't get how these guys do it.

yes but ones throwing motion is likely started as a kid. I suspect you either have a quick release or you don't. messing with a guys throwing motion can screw them up for years.

...telling is the comparison this year to Bledsoe. IMO Marino was the fastest. But seeing Bledsoe pat the ball incessantly drove a Cowboy fan nuts. Especially when the pressure was literally a few steps away from him.

To me the more important part of the equation is the mind. If Romo can develop the skill to disgnose the field and the defenders quickly and make the right decision he will be better than Marino.

Dare I say he will be showing "Montana" like ability. If the arm and legs are adequate, but the mind is superior I will take that QB to the game every Sunday over the next Elway/Leaf/Bledsoe/whatever strong arm flavour of the draft year.

Smart players make plays, dumb players spent all their physical energy overcoming their stupid mistakes. Eventually your opponents begin to take advantage of your stupidity.

Hey CC. Did you watch the highlights some one put up on utube. I ask because I did three times. Without the distractions of a live game I was able to just focus on Romo. There was a few things I was looking for such as his release point.
In focusing on his release, the quickness of it just jumped out at me. I was blown away with how fast his release was. I knew it was quick, but OMG, I couldn't believe it! I think it may be the fastest I've seen.

I swear, last week I saw him walk on water! Imagine what it's gonna be like when he has 6 games under his belt.:D

Great sonnyboy! I am excited to read several of you Zoners see it also......ROMO has such a quick release it is SILLY!

No, I have not seen the utube you referred to but, I have examined ROMO release over and over and remember Marino's release--I just thought maybe I was way off base with this observation but obviously not after reading all these great inputs.

Thanks :)
