Fouts also had a very fast release.
Alot of us seem to forget that Peyton, has a quick release as well and Troy's wasn't too shabby either, and Carr too has a very quick release.CrazyCowboy;1166439 said::laugh2: I can see why you thought that! I am still laughing ....good one!
What does it really matter a quick release doesn't always result in a pass completion.MichaelWinicki;1166734 said:Fouts also had a very fast release.
Who has the SB rings just checking I don't care how great Dan's skill level was he never won a championship.tunahelper;1166436 said:I grew up in Florida and have seen many Dolphin games and I havent seen anyone duplicate the release of Marino.
He was truely a great player on a less than great team!
I always wondered how much better Marino would be thought of if he played for Dallas teams of the 90's.
I dont think Aikman was near the skill level of Dan the man!
IMO

No, I have not seen the utube you referred to but, I have examined ROMO release over and over and remember Marino's release--I just thought maybe I was way off base with this observation but obviously not after reading all these great inputs.
Thanks

As far as release only, Marino and Namath would be about even in my mind...I think Namath had the better arm though.

I have never been so impressed as I was when Romo avoided Robert Griffith's blitz (taking his eyes from downfield), stepped up in the pocket after avoiding the tackle, and hit Crayton in stride for a first down.
Very few QB's could have avoided the blitz, and those that could probably wouldn't have had the presence to stay with the play and complete a pass for a first down.

I do remember a certain QB, who couldn't match Dan's skill level in a SB, and beat him that was Montana.
Would Dan, won a SB, with the Cowboys as QB, with his pedigree yes since you want to bring up that subject again the 90s Cowboys offense had Beuerlein, Wilson, Kosar, Garrett, and Peete do you think any of them would've led them to any SBs as the starting QB that will be no.
You might even say Kosar, won an NFC Championship, in place of Aikman, one year but the same can be said about the Patriots, when Bledsoe, led them past the Steelers in the AFC Championship in the place of an injured Brady.
First of all I am a Dallas Cowboys fan, however ask yourself if Aikman, Montana, Elway, whoever was placed on the same Dolphin teams would the results been as good as Marino produced?
Aikman had a greatness around him and he was a great leader and very accurate, but he was not in the class Marino.
Think about the defenses/running backs/O-Lines Aikman, Montana, Elway had around them to carry the burden in big games.
This is what wins championships no matter how great your quarterback is.
The argument one player is not worthy of greatness above another because of the team result is not logical.
It is the greatest team game and players of greatness should not be penalized because of their teammates short comings.IMO

I always thought Dan Marino had the quickest release I EVER seen, HOWEVER,
I believe ROMO's release is a little bit faster!
Thoughts? Am I missing the boat on this?

sure he was...but Marino was somewhat of a selfish player who cared alot about his stats, and Aikman wasnt like that
Jimmy Johnson, Norv Turner, Bill Walsh and Mike Holmgren are just of the authorities on great passers who all agree Aikman could have shattered alot of passing records had Dallas played a little different style
