I hope so. Goodwin been around a long time, offers nothing at CB. They could save cap space with whatever his vet pay is over a rookie.
Also Wright and Joseph are decent to good, or very good on ST's as well.
Wright and Joseph are decent to good? Since when?

Sounds good, but too often do we hear about one or two good plays early in OTA's and then the rest of the writers simply piggy back off everyone and continue to write about how good a guy looks all the way through.
That does happen, for sure. A difference here is that I really like what I saw from him at Southern Miss and the coaches themselves really like the guy.

But yeah, we won’t really know much until they get to Oxnard and start playing in PS games. That is when I was sure we had something in Bland.

Quinn is a stud at picking these secondary guys.

100%. The guy is a real good secondary coach. I was wondering the other day if I was the only one who thought he is very good.

When he was a player he was constantly getting his hands on the football. It is nice to see that he’s been able to transition that over to coaching.

From the outside looking in it seems like his players like him a lot too.

He might be a defensive coordinator in a few years. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Quinn hire Harris as his DC once he’s a head coach again. But that is just a guess.
It goes beyond X's and O's with Harris. He has a great ability to relate to players while still being "in charge". Quinn is the ultimate coach in that category and Harris is following his lead...

If anyone was wondering, this is his current status:

Though the injury occurred in the last week of October, Lewis just recently started running a few weeks ago. He's been restricted to straight-line sprints, but he's expected to incorporate lateral movements in short order.

You might be wondering why Lewis is still in the infancy stages of making full-fledged NFL cuts and movements. That's because the former third-round pick was told by doctors that his Lisfranc injury was one of the worst cases they had seen in 35 years.

Lewis and Gallup are similar in recoveries.

Scott has not played one down of Pro football, Joseph has; even if it was terrible. Comparing the two during "no contact" drills and camp fodder has little meaning.

Lewis has shown that when healthy and on the field he can be a difference-maker for this defense. Bland had a very strong rookie season, but the veteran Lewis paired with Trevon Diggs and Stephon Gilmore gives the Cowboys a better chance of being a shutdown secondary compared to Bland who teams may try to pick on if paired with Diggs and Gilmore.

Markquese Bell does enough for Dallas to trade Malik Hooker

Instead, we should be looking at Malik Hooker. Though Hooker had a good season in 2022, the Cowboys have another safety waiting in the wings in Markquese Bell, a player Dallas spent a lot of money on to sign when he was an undrafted free agent last year.

Another thing that could help Bell is the completion rate against Hooker last season, Hooker was targeted 29 times with teams completing 20 of those passes for a 74% completion percentage and two touchdowns. Bell's athletic ability should be able to vault him ahead of Hooker now with a better understanding of the defense and his role in it.

Oftentimes, the play of Donovan Wilson and Leighton Vander Esch goes unnoticed because of it. However, their contributions on the field should get recognized, especially with how important they were to the team in 2022.

So, re-signing both of them this offseason was crucial. The Cowboys signed Wilson to a three-year, $24 million deal and Vander Esch to a two-year, $11 million contract.

Wilson was drafted in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by Dallas, and since then, he has become a reliable playmaker on defense. People might remember the vicious hit he laid on Dalvin Cook in 2020.

Last season, he had 101 tackles (team-high) with five sacks and forced two fumbles in 17 games.
