The fact of the matter is that the Dallas FO didn't appeal to what Bobby Wagner wanted in compensation for his services.

That has been a constant problem that the Cowboys have had in their negotiations with the veteran free agent prospects.

Obviously, the offers that Stephen Jones provided wasn't in the best interest of what the major number of them preferred.

Just more evidence that JJ and SJ have transcended the rest of the NFL as FO operations guys.

“Free agency” is clearly a concept that weak-minded fools cling to in order to cobble together an inferior roster.

We don’t need to overpay “quality good players” to come to Dallas because— well, look at all our roster success!

Wasn’t that obvious last the last 2 years. Surprise? Not So much - we don’t over spend on free agency, like it or not that is the Cowboy Way
Being championship irrelevant is also the Cowboy Way. There's a correlation there.

When he was available years ago, he was the one free agent I was really hoping we'd sign. But of course not .. just another leaf falling

No we didnt.

Posters here were saying Wagner never wanted to come here originally so no call was made.

They were talking contract and Wagner wanted more than the hot dog and minimum wage Stevie was offering. We all knew it. Except for some.

One poster actually said LVE was the better option.

The Front office was more concerned about overpaying their own, and were extremely motivated to re-sign guys who recently blew their ACLs.

Shes trying to drum something up between our inept FO and Wagner? Come on, that's a reach and irrelevant to THIS offseason.

Yes they were talking contract and Wagner wanted more than our minimum offer. We all knew that. What do you think this thread is about?

In other words, we were too cheap. This is just another indication of what the real problem with the Dallas Cowboys is.
Cheap but also Stephen is not a good contract/cap guy. He also blew it with Eric Kendricks' agent and was originally going to sign with 49ers. I think Zimmer must have intervened to get him to change his mind. But I'm also sure that Wagner was only coming to Dallas if their offer was clearly more than the Seahawks. He's a west coast guy and clearly had a connection with the seahawks already.
