"nay"-sayers, Let's take a look at 1st round WRs

Its always nice to go back and pick and chose the guys who have worked out isn't it?

Personally, I wouldn't take a single one of them over Newman. Well, maybe Polamalu but the others can get bent.

That wasn't the point. The point was the poster tried to say "Parcells sucks, he didn't want Newman", to which I wanted to argue that he could have wanted somone else, look at these other round 1 guys who are better than Newman.

And I don't care what you "personally" think, all of these guys are worth more than Newman.

I have a feeling once Newman's career with Dallas is over, the overall concensus on him here will be, "Why didn't we surround him with a supporting cast?".

Really-in '04, the rest of our secondary was nothing but JAGs, but he nonetheless got tons of flack every time he gave up a TD/big pass play. And in the rest of his years, our pass rush hasn't been all that, which, unsurprisingly, has lead to our mediocre play in the secondary. Nonetheless, Newman got most of the flack.

Newman generally as gotten a pass...and that's because more often than not, he played extremely well.

Newman also seems to catch some undeserved flack because he so rarely really makes mistakes (for example, the Cinci game..that was very uncharacteristic). People seem to expect the guy to never give up a pass.

I knew Carp wasn't 1st day material even BEFORE the draft started.

Other than WR, we had other areas of need-so pretty much anyone ELSE would have been a significant upgrade over Carp.

Now I can see that and agree with that. I am sure there were a lot of people who didn't like Bobby, in fact I wasn't real thrilled with it.

I agree. Cromartie looks like the smart choice now, but alot of teams wish they took him back then too.

I never got the Carp pick though. I assume he was supposed to be the guy who unseated Aydole?

Your guess is as good as mine on Carp. Maybe it really was just a case of him being the son of a former BP player.
