plain and simple...Bill loves him, Jerry hates him.

Darn you, Jerry Jones!

If you saw the game you will see Jerry walk over to the sidelines to Parcells, Romo, Sean payton and another assistant I believe in the fourth quarter. Jerry slaps Parcells on the back and mutters something at him (probably "Get my boy Henson in there!").

Jones never once even acknowledges Tony Romo!

IF it had been Henson, Jerry would have gone over there and schmoozed with him, patted his butt and slapped him on the back, telling him what a great job he was doing.

In regards to the pre-game show, which I did not hear but I read about...For Jerry Jones to say how great Henson looks and speaks insignificantly about Romo's talents that tells me that the writing is on the wall...Romo is on his way out to another team!

The fool wants to keep Henson and wants Tony out because it's making HIS BOY Henson look bad, which in turn makes Jerry Jones look like an idiot.

Getting rid of Romo will tear up the team.

Geez! Give me a break!

I don't know what to make of it either but if I hadda guess, I'd say Jerry keeps Henson around until BP is outta here and then (because presumably - and hopefully - Bledsoe will be gone as well) the Henson era will either start.........or end, either way, without question.

IMO, there is a divide between BP and JJ on the Romo/Henson debate.

I just wish they'd give Henson more time with the first team. His intangibles are scary, his experience is nil.

I hope you are wrong about this. I was hoping for Henson to be the #2 guy but Romo earned it last night. He played better then Bledsoe did. If Jones pulls something like this he is a fool. As much as I wanted Henson to get the job I am just glad Romo has stepped up so much. I hope Jones sees it this way to.

I think Romo's tenure here hangs on Sean Payton's.

Not necessarily Tuna's.

Yes that college connection is pretty strong, isn't it?

Sometimes I get the sense that Big Bill hasn't found the connection with Payton that he would like. Certainly not like the Dan Henning connection you described the other day.

its plain and simple. bp wants a bus driver(romo) and MOST of the dallas fan base including Jerruh want what we've always had, a superstar quarterback (THE next Roger, THE next Troy). And i think Jerruh is willing to take his chances with the potential superstar(Henson) than the bus driver, won't win it or lose it for ya qb(romo)

i say give henson another year....what's the big rush?

How much did you have to drink last night? I have never in my life seen so much speculation. You are more worried about what might have been said and that Jerry didn't slap Romo on his golfer's a**. Chill allready!

Agree about Jerry and the fans desire for the next stud QB. Look at who is playing in the championship games. Brady, Manning, Vick and McNabb. Is there a "bus-driver" in the bunch? This game always starts at the QB position.

The interesting thing is, I don't think Tuna's definition of a "bus driver" QB is what everyone thinks. Remember he told Madden 2 years ago, when asked how long it would take to turn the Cowboys around, he said, "it depends on how long it takes me to find a QB."

I thought that was an interesting "top of the list" item for a "bus driver" coach.

Hehe. I have to agree w/ Fletch. Your reaching where you shouldnt be reaching. I think Jerry has learned alot from having Bill here. I think him not saying anything to Romo is just that. Nothing!

You didnt happen to see Jerry run around after that looking for Henson butt to pat did you? I didnt think so. :D

The Romo-Henson debate is far from over. Henson needs more time and who in their right mind would question that. The war will continue through next years TC at least.

With another year under his belt Henson could still give Romo a run for his moneyas for me, this is what I would like to see. The competition will only make our team stronger at the QB position.

We will see........what ever happens will be for the best.

If I where JJ I would talk up the guy I'm thinking about trying to trade. And I may even downplay the guy I want to keep thinking I may be able to get a cheaper long term deal with him. But thats just me....

BINGO!.............however, I'd really like it if they would give Henson more time with the first team. The intangibles are there, the experience is not.

We still really don't know what we have in Henson IMO. That is what preseason is for.............at least I thought.

couldn't help but think how it encapsulates this relationship, at least to a fan who has only appearances to go on.

Henning and Bill were equals. Dan hadn't just head coached at BC and other schools; he had been an HC in Atlanta. He was upstairs running the show on O when he was Bill's OC. Tuna deferred to him. Never challenged him publically, tho of course, the ball control style is a Parcells staple.

While Bill did see fit to relieve Charlie Weis of play calling duties in 99, he sure didn't open his trap when a KJ-less Henning managed to make due with Chrebet and Ward by getting Anderson 88 receptions. He EXPECTED Henning to get it done, somehow, someway. He'd also without hesitation summarily fire both starting guards because the tail had been stiffed too many times behind the LOS and expect his OC to suck it up.

It's an age thing, I suspect. Age and experience.

Sean may be Bill's protege, but Dan was his confidante.

These are gonna be the 3 QB's for 2005.

2006 will be different. I don't think Romo or Henson has a future in Dallas. Bledsoe could be here for three, four, five years, Gannon is proof that a QB is not dead at 33.

The QB of the future just may be a college freshman right about now.

This post should be reserved for the new Enquirer zone... Mods... can ya'll make a new forum please!

If Romo wins the #2 QB job than that's fine with me... May the best man win out. I just don't want to dump Henson because he's not living up to any fan's standards... Let the coaches decide his fate. If he's not ready yet, keep him practicing... As they say practice makes perfect. Keep working him. How long did Jason Garrett sit at the #3 QB position? Granted there are differences between Garrett and Henson, but if there's no need to rush him into saving a game in the 4th quarter, then just don't.

Very good post.

Most of us wanted JJ/BP to be patient with Henson....not rush him. This is what's happening. The number three QB needs to have potential that can be developed. This fits Henson.

Romo has earned the number two spot. Good for him. I hope he succeeds. And unlike a lot of other fans, I would be ecstatic to see him somehow supplant Bledsoe next season......although, I think that's very unlikely.

Thanks LTN. I appreciate your input the other day regarding Parcells and Hennings. I've watched with appreciation over the years at the chicken poo Bill has used at QB, (most notably Vinny, who was considered a bust when Bill got him, and Ray Lucas, who he actually won a few games with), and wondered who was pulling the strings.

Perhaps our biggest loss since Parcells decided to take the job has been his inability to have Henning with him, since Fox already had him under contract at Carolina.

Romo has earned the right to be the 2nd string quarterback. Romo has even played better than Drew Bledsoe, although Romo has not gone up against the quality of players Bledsoe has faced in the PS.

I have not seen any special intangibles people on the Internet speak of when it comes to Henson. Jerry Jones actually admitted during halftime that he was "disappointed" that Henson was not competing for the starting job, which he felt he would be doing this year. He also had some criticisms of Tony Romo as well. All the intangibles I hear people claiming Henson has, I actually see in Tony Romo. He reminds me of a "broke" version of Brett Favre.

Time to stop drafting 5th round type quarterbacks in the 2nd round and trying to get baseball players on the cheap to play quarterback.

Let's draft a quarterback in 2006.

Henson and his deal for JJ is like his old oil well drilling wildcat days.

JJ bought the rights to Henson and signed him to a cap friendly deal. It's a given that developing him is going to be a longer term situation than a QB right out of college would be who might be able to start quickly.

JJ is going to let Parcells work with hm and Payton and see what happens. We have nothing big invested and if he pans out and becomes a starter eventually..

we win...big.

Because BP is only here for a short term 3-4 years, Bledsoe has to play to get anything done, but even if Henson takes 2-3 years to get ready after his baseball stint..

..so what.

Roger Staubach took longer than that and the one thing they don't want to do is to rush him before he's ready like they did with Hutch.

Henson at this point doesn't make or break a career or a franchise or a HC.

He's Bubble Boy right now.

One day, he steps out and we see if he's ready.

There is no rush. Bledsoe is here, Romo has some abilities and if something happens that shifts Henson to the front..we'll see how he and the HC respond.

Too many people want to make this a do-or-die thing. I don't see BP obsessing about it. Nor JJ.

The wildcat well hasn't produced yet. But the odds are better than 50-50 it will..eventually..if not, we'll have other options DTR.

Relax.
