Well, it fits the "getting the top X" player at a position that Dallas has done before.

If you put aside his issues, I think most would say he is the best pass rusher in this class and has been ranked that way for a while.

True. Though I don't particularly like the player, there is no doubt about his ability. So there is consolation in that

A lot like when we picked Dez.

Gregory seems so pothead-ish. That normally goes with lack of concentration. Not too comfortable with that.

And who did the late night call come from...a fan? a team exec? a mediot? Sorry there's no where near enough info there to give that story any credibility at all.

Edit: Not a slam to you, personally, but to the mad dog guy who reports this stuff based on a "late night call".

The call came from the janitor on the late night shift. He found a crumpled sheet of paper with the name Gregory on it at Valley Ranch.

I'm not for this move, but what happened to the RKG approach? Cause we go 12-4 all of the sudden we can take on all these risky type players?

We haven't taken anyone yet and Hardy's legal troubles were very questionable. He had a very good reputation up until that point when he called the cops on his hysterical g/f and ended up being arrested himself.

From what has been rumored with him having issues that "aren't his fault", and that he comes from "a good family", it makes me wonder whether it's a severe anxiety disorder, which would make it difficult for him to handle the stress of football. Putting a guy like this in Dallas is a disaster waiting to happen.

 Or it could have been the guy at the corner liquor store..

Doesn't matter who said what, there's a very good chance that Gregory or Ray could be there at 27, and a decision will have to be made. Jerry loves risks....The temptation will be there just like last year with Manziel

I can see this happening. On a personal note, he reminds me a lot of Charles Haley. If the Cowboys feel the same, I can see them taking him at #27. And I would limit him to being a pass-rush specialist as a rookie, while he learns the game and improves his technique, strength and size. Maximize his strengths while it minimizes his weaknesses.

Casserly was just on NFLnw and he said he's been talking to the GMs and personnel guys a lot about Gregory; they say the more the are around him and talk to him the further he drops.

He says that this is not the case with Shane Ray.

fwiw, Baldinger just said he'd take Gregory over Ray because of the injury issues.

Well, when starting a thread reporting that Dallas will pick a particular player based on any media report, it does matter who stated it, otherwise it has no credibility. Not saying Dallas wouldn't take him or Ray or anybody else...I don't pretend to know what they'll do, but you seem to put a lot of stock into JJ taking a player because he loves the "risk". If they take him, it will be because a team of professionals studied him extremely closely and concluded that the likelihood of success far outweighed the likelihood of failure, not because Jerry loves to take risks.
