I'm all for ramsey but i think what hes trying to say is that out of 19 people, only 7 thought he was the best which isn't even 50% of the group. He got the most votes but it wasnt like a hefty amount in ramseys favor.

Imo this would have been a lot more useful if the writer had thought to ask the respondents to give their top 3, and then provided a ranking based on the cumulative scores.

I would take who 37% said was the best player in the draft @ 4.

So will the Chargers.

Part of our plan to draft Ramsey requires the Chargers to suddenly ignore the fact that most people think Ramsey is the best player in the draft.
They are reportedly worried about his lack of ball skills.....but so should we.

Umm...most of the people polled by the MJS don't believe Ramsey is the best player in this draft. How exactly is that a "reach"?

because it's a stupid way to look at it.

*most* of the people don't believe ANY of the players are the best in the draft. by your total void of logic that means no player is worth being in the draft.

They very well may, but the also have huge needs on the OL & DL.

Tunsil, Stanley or Bucker is the chatter but who knows.

Where exactly did I say that? I merely pointed that 37% ain't exactly an overwhelming mandate.

I also hear they like Buckner and Stanley.
It feels to me that the Chargers are hoping for a trade partner but not one that would require them to totally lose out on the top tier of the draft.
They may be hoping someone who loves Ramsey, or Tunsil, or even Zeke will be willing to trade a few spots in front of us so they can pick up an extra pick and still get the OL or DL they want. It would be smart if they are able to pull it off.
Its interesting they have not had Ramsey in for a visit although they did attend his pro day at FSU.

exactly. got lucky that there weren't 19 different players thrown out.

I guess you don't see that he was the majority vote getter so go the other way with your thinking.

No, he wasn't. And that's the point -- he got 37% of the vote, a majority would be greater than 50%. A more extreme case -- if ten guys voted and eight players received one vote apiece and the other player got the remaining two votes, that player would have been voted the top player, but no where close to a consensus. It may be that these seven guys are just really stupid.

And remind me again why San Diego is going to pass on the best player in the draft?
So they can draft an OL who should still be available around #10? Nah.....

The Charger may want to trade out if the offer is right but more than likely will take Ramsey before we can.

It's not a guarantee that one of the top two OT will be around at 10 IMO. Regardless of which OT you think is best, I think they both have a decent chance of going back to back. Baltimore will take Tunsil if he falls and the 9rs have a definite need at OT. It's probably a much greater need then QB to be honest. Davis has decided to retire and that catches the 49ers flatfooted for sure. There is a very real possibility that if the Chargers do not take an OT, they are still gone before 10.

However, if you are San Diego, the reason you take OT is that you have a vet QB who you need to take care of. You also have a 1st round RB that you need to take advantage of before he wears down. Shelf life on a RB is relatively short, in comparison to other positions. The longer you wait before you get them a good OL, the less return you have. They have so many carries, regardless of yardage, and then they are done.

How is it the results aren't all whole numbers? What's this 3.5 business?

There's always one. You ask them to name their favorite song and they've got to give you a 30 song playlist.

Do you think the Chargers would draft a safety with the 3rd pick when they just crapped on a multi time pro bowl safety in Weddle. They let Weddle walk partly because they didn't value him enough to pay him less than what they would have to pay Ramsey. I guess they could hope Ramsey is a corner but hope may not be enough to warrant the 3rd pick in the draft.

No, I don't think that's how they will go. I mean, they could but I don't see it. This draft is actually pretty deep at Safety and they will have the opportunity to pick up a decent Safety prospect later in the draft. They have plenty of picks to work with so I don't think that's how they go at 3. LT on the other hand, you have two and then it drops off pretty clearly. OT is a more important position and the hit and miss of OL is much better then Safety historically. Besides, Tunsil is the next player on the list of best player in this draft and he's at a need position. I think they go OT.

I am in the Zeke camp. I do like Ramsey but would like Zeke more...however this has to give some people pause that don't like Ramsey at all...

===========

In this time of pre-draft smokescreens, we can be certain of this: some teams drafting early but outside of the top 2 are going to get a great value pick.

With QBs expected to come off the board 1-2 when the 2016 NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday, it's well-established that some highly rated position players will be selected later than initially thought. A poll of NFL evaluators released Tuesday by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel adds more credence to that belief.

The Journal Sentinel conducted a poll of 19 "national-oriented personnel men" this month, asking them to name the draft's best player, regardless of position. Here's how the voting went:

1. Florida State DB Jalen Ramsey (7 votes)

2. Ole Miss OT Laremy Tunsil (3.5)

3. UCLA LB Myles Jack (2.5)

T-4. Ohio State DE Joey Bosa (2)

T-4. Notre Dame LB Jaylon Smith (2)

T-4. North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz (2)

I got Tunsil as the best but not by much.
