Randle very good today

Last week he looked tentative to me.
This week he continually made something out of nothing. I don't care about his stats. He was very good today. Murray would not have done better.

Thanks for the post. While JRan is not everyone's DC model citizen, he was definitely the best rb on the field in the linc. He's no ECampbell but he's protecting our field position, the ball and taking what the D is giving.

Randle averaged 2.7 a carry on 18 carries and that's VERY good??? o_O The Cowboys running attack averaged 3.4 a carry today.

It's not about that ypc though. There were times last season where Demarco would end the game with 3 ypc but it was a solid game because he tired the defense and punished them. That's what Randle did today. Ypc is only good for state and pro bowls.

And Demarco Murray averaged about 3.1 yards per carry last year against the Eagles on 51 carries. The Eagles are very stout against the run. Our run game was miles better than theirs.

And Rookie Tevin Coleman had 80 yds on 20 carries last week against them.

I think he ran hard. He is just too small. Nice change of pace player but not starter long term.

The thing about Randle right now, is that he doesn't yet qualify for thunder or lightening.

Randle isn't a punishing runner and our YPC the past two games along with our rushing totals aren't going to cut it over the long haul.

And when Murray went against Philly last year he had Dez as a threat, Randle did fine. The Oline needs to step up their play though

Ummmm he looked very tentative to me. Dancing around and being indecisive. He is easily replaceable.

Murray and Cowboys were made for each other. Murray goes to a system he doesn't fit and has been terrible. Cowboys run games takes a big hit without him here.

And that means nothing. Philly was playing on the road. They were playing the Cowboys a team they absolutely hate at home. In a huge game they were much more fired up about.
Still. What one team does in one game against one opponent, does not always equate to every other team or game they play. They also did a good job of bottling up Murray last year.

There is still too little evidence to really say one way or another. How this RBBC is going to eventually work out. But. Randle did as much as he could today with sub par blocking. He also had a nice catch for 14 yards. And a huge one handed catch and run in last weeks game.
Most important. Dallas is 2-0

I'm not the one touting the Eagles as some kind of shut down defense. Which is it?

Are you not trying to say that because Coleman averaged 4.0 ypc Randle should have been able to do better? Or did I mis understand your post?

No Randle shouldn't have done better because he isn't as good as Coleman. I would make that trade right now.

I agree, but we don't know what Murray would have done. And judging by how Murray played last year, he WOULD have done better.
But he's no longer here so there's no need for comparisons.

he made the most out of his opportunities. Through 2 games the massive running lanes haven't been there, I thought the line did a better job as the game wore on opening up some holes

This is the biggest problem through the first two games. That and waiting until the 3rd quarter both times to let McFadden play. Did he miss the bus or something?

But Atlanta wouldn't make that trade. I would also trade Randle for quite a few other backs. Reality is. Coleman wasn't a better pick for Dallas then Jones or Gregory. And wasn't available to them in the third round. So they did what was ultimately the best thing for the team. You can't have a pro bowler at every position. So Dallas has to find a way to win with what they got. Unfortunately they'll have to do it missing their best two offensive players for the next couple of months. But I think I'll give it more than 2 games. One against a very good defensive front, before I completely write Randle off.
