DAL had plenty of cap space to keep Murray. His cap hit with PHI is 5m this year but we would have structured it differently.

Our cap hit would have been 4m but if you subtract the 1.1m for McFadden and 710K for CMike then it is a net of 2.2m. The remaining 16-18m for 2016 and 2017 would be spread over 2016-2019 to minimize the impact.

Right now, without any inside info it appears DAL is between 8.2 and 11.1m under the cap. They have to account for another 5.6m for Hardy, but get some relief for the salaries of Hardy and McClain when they were suspended. They also get back 700k from Brinkley getting signed by NYG.

Without seeing the full IR list and not knowing if they paid Nzeocha leaves things a little murky but the exact numbers aren't that important. DAL could get another 4m from Carr's contract just like they got 2.4m from Witten's with a pen stroke.

After Sept DAL added 1.7m to get Cassel, they added 600k to get KMoore. They also had to spend 2m to replace OScan, TMcClain, Dunbar and CGreen on the active roster.

They also signed Dez to a 70m deal and TCrawford to a 45m extension that added 2m to his 2015 cap hit. They could have waited until next year for Crawford. The other big signings were Hardy 8.5m, Free 3m, RMcClain 2.6m, Beasley 2m, Gachkar 1.6m and CWhite 1.5m.

Another 2.2m for Murray would have been money well spent and we would have saved that much on ink and paper alone here at CZ.

The QB has been not good, but good luck changing the rest of the team around him. The other problems havent exactly been localized to a player or two.

Not sure we're gonna see all that much change at RB. It may just be Michael taking his third of the plays like Dunbar did.

I kinda like the changes myself.............you know, a pretty smart guy once said that doing the same thing and expecting different results is insanity.

We are 0-3 so if we don't change anything, why should we expect anything different than another loss?

There you have it... Not signing Murray made little impact on bringing in players to help salvage this season. All that for BK to come in and make that guys silly argument look well silly. Thank you sir!

I didn't say we shouldn't make changes. I said the QB wasn't the only problem. But sometimes you have to shake things up, and a move at backup QB is a pretty good way to do that. Especially when you have an experienced alternative on the roster.

You could clearly see Cassell handing the ball off to Randle with CM standing in the background. So my expectations are clearly going to be tempered until CM gets 15-17 carries in a game.

I may be wrong about certain players that I listed. But I am right that the money that we didn't spend on Murray allowed us to do other things that will end up saving our season.

None of the moves are "bank breaking" but they all add up. Mincey got his bonus, Hardy with incentives is making about a M$/game, Ro got resigned... and I'm sure there are others that I'm not recalling. Point is, it all adds up and are things we were more able to do because we didn't pay Murray 8 freakin' million dollars to stay here.

Why? They showed a clip of Randle getting practice in with MC... I wouldn't worry too much about that... He needs to practice taking hand offs from CM as well. I don't doubt CM getting 12-15 carries.. Heck it will not shock me if he ends up having more carries then both Randle/DMC combined. All this talk all week isn't just lip service there really is going to be a shift in RB workload IMO.

Nah his numbers are worse than Weeden's the only real difference between the two is number of starts. There was a thread on this that broke down the past few starts of Romo, Weeden, and Cassel. It was pretty eye opening; don't get me wrong the change was needed but this isn't a young Tom Brady stepping in for Bledsoe.

No, they don't have 11M in cap space.

They have 8.3M but Greg Hardy's contract is structured such that it only hit the cap each week as he get's paid his per game bonus. Assuming that Hardy's plays 12 games, the current cap space is about 1.4M.

Someone came up with a 360 carries threshold but that completely ignores receptions. When you add carries to receptions there have been dozens of seasons when RBs maintained or had better years after very heavy workloads, especially earlier in a career.

And the fall off from a career year is going to noticeable by definition alone. If you had your best season then the other seasons aren't as good as the best one. OJ only went over 2000 yds once but he averaged 1500 yards for the next 3 years. It can be for a number or reasons: injuries, committee, game plan, trades, etc..for the decline, but to set the career year as the bar that has to be matched isn't fair.

If Brady doesn't throw for 50 TDs like he did in 2007 no one says he is done.
