Random thoughts after rewatch

Yeah I was surprised he did as well against him and they had suh. And he is young still. Hoping the light bulb comes on soon. And he plays next to Connor Williams. Wonder if McGovern needs to be there.

they were working out McGovern at center some this week....they wont let this turn into a Chaz Green fiasco.....i still have not forgiven Garrett for that....Garrett's stubborn "just line up and beat the guy in front of you"

but if the guy is a lot better than you....that's just plain dumb

I’m not giving up on Biadascz but I’m also looking at what maybe the draft is offering.

Thats called a GM...thats our problem GM is a 365 day job always looking for the "we have a 73 rate here can i get a 76 thats the same age"...

On your comment about Biadasz having been around long enough and maxed out his strength....the guy is 23 years old, he's in his 2nd year in the NFL....given his youth and tenure there is still quite a ways to go in terms of being able to add strength and improve his ability to use leverage more efficiently.
I sometimes wonder if Biadasz ever fully came back from his knee injury he sustained at Wisconsin. This guy was an Outland Trophy winner and would have been drafted higher if not for the injury. It might be part of the reason why he struggles in pass protection.

Omg, don’t mention chaz to me. Lol. After he got beat 3 or 4 times he should have taken himself out. Or went to the coaches and said he couldn’t do it. JG said he was going to get him help at halftime and I don’t think he did. JG should have been fired. And after the game he almost made it seem like he was teaching Dak a lesson. Dak got sacked by the egirls 6 times in the very next game. It messed up his internal clock for a year. It took the next game against the falcons a year later before he got his head right.

This should be the starting 5...

T. Smith
C. McGovern
M. Farniok
Z. Martin
T. Steele
I'm all for competition and getting better, but even though we are down a starter we have one of the better ranked OLs in the league right now as per both the popular metrics out there and the eye test and you want to blow it up?
We just need Biadasz to sit a little stronger against the bull rush (it was 2 of the best DT combos in the league so far) and Williams to stop holding. We aren't going to play Farniok right now (stressing the right now part). That's nuts.

I'll leave out most of the obvious and/or things that have been said often. Credit to the many unmentioned players who really showed up to play.

-Biadasz: I'm not ready to give up on him. His run blocking is more than acceptable. We ran all over them all night and he was right in the middle of that many times. He does seem to get pushed backwards in pass protection more than you'd like. He has been around long enough to have maxed out strength wise, so thats a bit of a concern, but I wouldn't go advocating for Farinok just yet, and I doubt the team is considering that at this point.

-Overall depth: The Garrett era felt like we had a top heavy roster. Some stars, names, etc.....but when one starter would go down the drop-off would be quite noticeable, and the opposition seemed to inevitably exploit that and it would cost us. Now when guys like Collins/Wilson/Armstrong go down, we have others to come in and offer up a similar performance.

-Speaking of Steele: He just looks different. Last year he looked like your average fat man....like an extra in a football movie. Now he looks the part of an NFL tackle and is backing it up on the field. If I'm Collins, I'm nervous.

-JSmith: One play aside, he really did play pretty well. The spy role is probably where he is best used at this point, and the coaches are doing an excellent job of putting people in the right places to get the most out of them....something that was missing here for a very long while.
It's too bad McGovern can't play OC in the NFL. He is a better blocker than Biadasz.

I think the hip injury recovery is even worse for an OL. And I don't think he ever recovered from that.

Drafting him in the 3rd was another monstrous gaffe that set the team back.

There's a documentary out there somewhere on the 2017 team.

There's an entire segment on it when it unfolded.

Agreed that Dak was affected.

What will be evident is the coaches lack of either ability or willingness to make in game adjustments.

Best I can figure out is that Chaz was a Jason pick, and he stubbornly refused to replace him. Wouldn't have been the first time.

Don't forget, Jason was the OC in the 09 playoff loss to MINNY where we kept trotting out a Marion Barber who couldn't even walk. I'll never forget screaming while watching him limp to the huddle.

Check that out if you have a chance. It's unreal.

There's audio on the sidelines during that game.

Coaches are like....he just can't block out there.

Next day Garrett apologized to the staff, saying he didn't realize.

I dont know HOW or WHY they refused to do anything about it mid game.
