The intake of certain foods, specifically calorie dense (fried/fatty, etc.) foods cause specific endorphins/seratonins to be released which cause pleasure and cravings for more (i.e. chasing after that feeling).
It's also not an oversimplified concept where you eat a piece of chocolate and you're forever hooked. However, when you factor in other existing conditions such as depression, insecurity, and other emotional imbalances, it can lead to momentary indulgences that have negative affects....in other words, over-eating, which leads to obesity.
It sounds like to me you're thinking because you don't have the problem, nobody else should either.
