Look at Garretts body language in the war room when Gregory is picked.

That was a Jones family pick. They stole one!

I noticed that last year when he was drafted. You could tell he didn't care for the pick. Jerry's way is destroying this franchise and his ego won't allow him to get out of the way.

Eight sacks? Mincey did that but took a full season and people around here were hailing him as a free agent steal.

But Freeney? No, no, we'll have none of that. Progress stopper. Etc.

Well now that Gregory is looking at 10 games there will be an extra spot. I was in the camp of waiting on Freeney knowing Gregory and Lawrence would be back week 5, however at this point its worth a look before hes no longer an option.

History of Cowboys recent 2nd round picks -
2009 - None, Worst draft in many many years - 1st pick rd. # 3 LBer who did nothing. (Williams I think). The backup draft.
2010 - Sean Lee - injured player, Great LB'er- hurt a lot. RKG.
2011 - Bruce Carter - Looked like Tarzan, played like Jane. 1 contract and moved on. Could not grasp mental side of game.
2012 - Claiborne - Traded up,1st and 2nd round picks - always injured. Team admitted never scouted player as they did not think would be available. Bust.
2013 - Escobar - Picked to play in 12 packages, changed coaches - scraped scheme, waste.
2014 - Lawrence - Traded 2nd and 3rd round picks, suspended 4 games - drugs.
2015 - Gregory - Failed drug test at combine, has failed at least 5-6 tests since, will be suspended 10 games, in drug rehab.
2016 - Smith - will not play all year. Knee. All world potential - will not help team this year.

8 drafts - 10 picks Counting trades, Lee and Claiborne only players at training camp let alone the season. Escobar coming off torn Achilles.
There is something fundamentally wrong with our use of 2nd round picks. This is not on the players, its on the F.O. And obviously nothing has or is changing, see Smith this year.
That is so much draft equity just wasted.....that should be the core of the team now ...

Swinging for the fences, one HR in Lee, one single in Lawrence, one walk in Smith and five strikeouts.

Hardy? He's been humbled enough.

If you sign Hardy and freeney, from a sacks perspective you are better than you where in 2013-present.

I'm not saying I like Hardy, but just looking at Hardy and freeney production wise. Don't want a bunch of peeps jumping on me bout DV

He's going to rehab for weed...

I'm fine with cutting him if he is so addicted to weed that he has to go to rehab.

You have to have about 0 will power or just not care at all to not be able to put down weed in a situation like he is in.

No joke. Let's pray the kid never buys a 20 bag of dope or gets prescribed oxy 30s Fr "pain" bc then he might as well just retire

Oh please, Garrett runs personnel

If it turned out well, Garrett would be lauded. If player turns out badly, it is on Jerry,

I don't think so.
Garrett has strong influence on the offensive players. After that it's more the Marinelli, scouts, Jerry, Stephen, and position coaches.

No doubt. It was obvious that Garrett was not thrilled.
I wouldn't soley blame jerry though. He is not taking him without Marinelli and maybe the scouts' consent.

I also think jerry listened to Rob Ryan (who was very loudly complaining about not having the secondary pieces) when he spent 50 million on Carr AND spent his top two draft picks on Claiborne.

Jerry gets the ultimate blame but he does listen to the specific OC and DC's opinions.

Blessing in disguise! !!

Now we have to make moves to beef up our pass rush. It's not like anybobody was counting on Gregory, right?

This team hasn't hit on a 2nd round draft pick since Flozell Adams in '98.

Sean Lee just turned 30 years old and missed half his career due to injuries, I wouldn't call that a hit.

And I stated that in the draft day thread when it was happening in real time. I've tried to search for it, but anyway:
Jerry and Stephen high five'd when they knew they would get their player, then Jerry took a cell phone into the back room, leaving Jason and Stephen alone in the War room. Garrett was staring at the floor for several minutes while Stephen leaned in and looked to be reassuring him/giving him a pep talk. As much of a poker face Garrett displays 24/7, his body language for those few minutes were pretty transparent. The Jones' looked ecstatic while Garrett looked like he was sick to his stomach.

Can we cut him and Rolando now please?

I am sick of these guys and we need to stop putting up with this type of behaviour!!!

FWIW, what I wouldn't give for Demarcus Ware's services these past 3 years.

Was an absolutely horrific decision then, and still is now.

I am done with this argument ........ comparing this kids weed problem with Cancer is too much for me and probably the thousands of others on this board who have lost loved ones to a REAL disease.

The people comparing weed problem to Cancer should be ashamed of yourselves.

Fin

So, Mental Illness isnt a real disease? Regardless if he has it or not, thats a bold statement and kind of Ironic. Im sure there are people on the board that have lost loved ones to that real disease called depression... but hey, its not REAL.

We just need Tapper to have 10 sacks this year and we're good.

Well, how 'bout we call it a career and concede that we blew a high pick tilting at a windmill? The guy's talent is definitely tantalizing, but these sorts of risks aren't worth the return with our premium picks.

Cut em these kids are ruining the game.
