Its really starting to look like Gregory will never live up to the hype. 1 sack in that many games is alarming for a player that is supposed to have elite pass rushing skills.

With that said, what do you think his ceiling is?

A good rotational player?

Solid starter?

Pro-Bowl Caliber?
He hasn't played in almost 2 years, did you really expect him to come in and immediately make an impact. He shouldn't have been used except as a 3rd down rush specialist for at least the 1st half the of the year. Fan expectations have always been a bit absurd for him. He came in at 238, at that size for a de screams bust potential and that's before the drug issues! His future if he has one might be at that Leo linebacker Seattle seems to incorporate so well!

I don't think we cut Tapper and Ealy for Gregorys potential.

I think we cut them because they have no potential.
Right, Ealy was so bad in camp they took a flyer trying him out at 3tech...he sucked there too.
Tapper can't even get signed to a practice squad. Only thing hes ever done college or pros is run faster than expected at the combine. Hes a long term developmental player with pars defect...dont exactly scream long term career!

Man please. Yall give some of these players so many excuses. Explain to me why rookie Dorance Armstrong has made more splash plays than Randy Gregory?

A 4th year rookie...come on now

And no, a rookie with those numbers isnt impressive at all
You act as if he has been sitting on the bench the whole time. He wasn’t with the team last year. Another year he was out with injuries . As another poster said, he only played about 70 snaps. Yes, he is little more than a rookie. He might be bust, but Tank has the same stats at 70 snaps. He had missed two entire seasons and played very little. I am not crazy about him, but it is too soon to tell.

Was a a gamble pick....which I would of been fine with if it wasnt a second round pick
The gamble wasn't supposed to be if he was a good player though. It was only would he be available to play.

I think the light will come on in the next few weeks. He is too talented for it not to.

I think we cut them because they have no potential.

They're both free agents so it's not like people are lining up at their doors. Tapper is probably still practice squad eligible.

Yeah it's the reason I kept asking why everyone was acting like he was this proven great pass rusher we were getting back this year. He's done next to nothing in the NFL so far.
I agree 100%. I have not seen the hype around this guy weed or no weed. We got him in the 2nd round but I prefer Taco at the R DE position.

Tank Lawrence had 1 sack in his 1st 17 games as well if I'm not mistaken. It came in his 17th game of the 2014 season against Detroit in the playoffs.

Lawrence is on his way to getting a long term deal worth big bucks from the Cowboys or someone. Point being, Dallas fans should know 1st hand that judging Randy Gregory off of 17 games is narrow minded.

Edit: didn't see the @Eanwen post
9th game...missed 1st 8 with broken foot rookie season. Had another following week against green bay. Had 7 in last 8 games his 2nd season!
Man please. Yall give some of these players so many excuses. Explain to me why rookie Dorance Armstrong has made more splash plays than Randy Gregory?
Uh, Armstrong played last year...he was in a weight training program last year with actual paid trainers. Gregory has been sitting on a couch, playing video games, and bagging groceries! And exactly what splash plays would that be?

Of anyone paid attention today, the announcers addressed this in a way.
That when asked, Marinelli said they are working him back in at a predetermined pace. To get him back to where he needs to be.
Will he be fine, and make a difference remains to be seen. But give him some more time. But it is in the nature for fans to be on the negative side no matter what.

I can understand that, but these fans should understand to that he may need more time. But they can’t.

And some guy on this forum had the NERVE to get upset and argue with me because I said after a year off, he would have to gradually work back into shape. But he put me on ignore so he doesn't have to eat crow in my presence.:lmao:

He stunk his rookie season after the high ankle sprain.

He only got 6% of snaps in 2016. Had a sack out of it.

His snap percentage for 2018 coming into today was 21%. 1 sack in that few snaps is probably more than ok.

We don't have enough snaps to know yet, but the rate is fine.
