You are correct but with not having any real deterrent like a suspension can anyone guarantee that there won't be players that at some time decide to use some weed before a game or prior to going to some team or position meeting? Are you going guarantee the players remember everything in those meetings and have the same mental sharpness they usually have when they don't smoke some weed prior? Nobody here is advocating the use of weed while in meetings or playing but just like in real life where there are still states with laws for the possession and use of weed there are still some that do use it prior to going to work.

They most certainly are using today. If you saw Zeke on All or Nothing, I would imagine that's what it looks like when a stoned player walks into a team meeting.

They only have to pass one test a year and, if they do, they are free to use all the recreation drugs they want until the following year, provided they don't get busted by the law. They even know when they are going to be tested so they have time to get clean before the test.

You have to be in the drug program (like Gregory was) to get tested year round for recreational drugs. The NFL only does random drug tests throughout the year for performance enhancing drugs.

First: Most players are probably not getting high during the game. Second: The NFL is shooting players up with Toradol, Ketorolac, and Marcaine. All of these drugs can cause headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, etc... All of which seem detrimental to playing a high impact sport. On top of that, these drugs can mask concussion symptoms and result in more damage being done to a muscle, ligament, etc.
Given the fact that I don't smoke, I could care less either way... but weed seems like a pretty insignificant thing for the NFL to worry about.

PS. Let's be honest. Most jobs don't test for weed because it affects the employees work performance. They test for weed because their insurance won't pay a claim if the employee has an accident and is found with it in their system.

First I know the team doctors prescribe hard drugs but I don't know for certain what they are so my question is are you in the training rooms when these drugs are prescribed that you know those drugs are prescribed? Second the NFL has faced and still face more law suites from former players for how and what they were given that caused the health problems they are facing now. That's one of the big reasons that they have changed rules and helmets because the concussion law suites. There is one that a group of players are doing that because their drug addiction started after being drugged up to play football and that addiction ruined their marriages and made their life a living hell.

Employers policies aren't just because of insurance reasons. Companies that have employees that interact with the public don't want their employees on weed and then doing that interaction with the public and what they may say or do.

You talked about those hard drugs and the effects that have but slowing reflexes that can cause significant injuries isn't important?

I see as long as a player can beat the tests it erases the actual effects for using. Makes perfect sense to someone who is using. Maybe if the players are using during meetings or before games it can explain why some players have some really bad games. The SEC has a zero tolerance for drug use of any stock broker. Any failed test is automatic loss of license. Why, because they don't want any impairment with the handling of other peoples money. But as long as the tests can be beaten who cares.

Just changing the rules does not invalidate the old one. And he had his misconduct at the time the old rule was decisive.

The only way he gets reinstated is when they also declare that the old rule was wrong - which they never will do. Or they give amnesty to him. Which i nowhere have read of.

His reinstatement is subject to the commissioner's discretion. There's no particular rule. That's why the players are upset with Goodell and his power.

Take what I said out of context if you like. What I said was, "Players are using right now... and there are no guarantees". Of course, that goes against what you are attempting to argue, so I guess you just needed to twist what I said to fit your narrative. Please show me where I said, "as long as a player can beat the tests it erases the actual effects for using". Also... for the record, I was in the Army as an Infantryman for 22 years. I served in rapid deployment units and know full well what it's like to work for an employer who has a zero tolerance. I'm pretty sure, being high on weed, would have much greater circumstances in that profession than as a stock broker. So... you're preaching to the choir.
My whole point was, the NFL has no problem giving drugs to their players when it helps them get on the field and make them money. But... if they smoke some weed on their own time... well that's grounds for taking away their livelihood.
On another note... The players signed a contract and I think they should honor it. Having said that, I still think the whole weed thing is stupid.

Nope, never been in an NFL training room. I have however done plenty of research and read/watched several interviews with NFL players and doctors. The drugs used are pretty commonly known. But.. maybe you're from Missouri.

Unless someone has smoked a very copious amount of weed, you would never know by just talking to them.

Once again... I don't think anyone is getting wasted before a game. I could be wrong

Yes many people use weed for pain or other medical conditions like cancer and glaucoma but none of those people are playing a extreme contact sport. You also omitted the fact that medical studies have proven that using weed slows reflexes and affects memory both very much needed for football. Should employers that employee people that use heavy equipment stop testing for drug use that includes weed? Those policies are there for the safety of the employees. It's not being on any high horse if you understand why there are policies against using weed or why there are still laws for being Under the Influence while driving or DUI.

Just saying weed is still illegal federally and in most states and you can still get cited or arrested for possession.

Kareem Hunt could of been cited for a blunt if the cop wanted to do so. In the end that video/audio got released so it still was a whammy anyways for Hunt.

You can be caught with 157lb of booze in you car, if it's in bags in the back of the truck. Not so much weed.
