Saw this when he was drafted. Was the reason I was excited by the pick. And he looked every bit as advertised his first game. Doesn't mean anything if he can't get on the field though.

He looked every bit as advertised in preseason but did virtually nothing in the season opener prior to his injury.

I know we don't trust the guy right now and rightfully so. But I came across this phenomenal video regarding Randy's game and it makes sense why we drafted him.

Man, if we can just keep him focused and get him on the field.

We have more blue chip talent on defense than we think.

Posting videos of him two years ago in college isn't going to make many feel any better about his rookie year or his drug suspension.

I do remember one play where he got to Eli a fraction of a second after the QB got rid of the ball. He hit him pretty good. At that point I thought he was going to have a good rookie season. Unfortunately, he got injured shortly thereafter and it ruined his first year.

High ankle sprains are really bad for any football player but for a pass rusher, it is particularly problematic. He likely wasn't right physically until the last quarter of the season and by then, he had lost whatever momentum he had coming out of Oxnard.

There were a lot of us who thought his high ankle sprain would likely derail his rookie season but to follow that up with a drug suspension has really put off a lot of fans. He was given a great opportunity and is blowing it. Missing the first four games of the 2016 season isn't going to help his development.

really? you think every pothead has the support available to him that randy gregory has had?

at some point a man has to take responsibility for his own actions -- and others need to stop making excuses for him.

Completely agree. Tired of everyone being a victim. Randy Gregory is his own worst enemy. He's got every opportunity to have the world in the palm of his hand and if he fails he has nobody but himself to blame.

I would bet against him. I think as a Cardinal rule any player who fails a drug test at the combine should be eliminated from consideration. That player is either so addicted he can't stop or he is monumentally stupid and that figures to hamper his pro career.

I just have no tolerance for these kinds of players. Give me the Charles Tappers any day.

It's pretty obvious Gregory's rookie season didn't go well when highlights of his college career are being shown. He's going to have to start creating some NFL highlights if he wants to see a second contract with the Cowboys. He missed 7 games last season and will miss at least 4 games in 2016 due to a drug suspension so his NFL career has gotten off to a rocky start. Unless he starts playing some great football he's not going to have a long career with the Cowboys.

Even if he can stay clean until his contract is up he won't be re-signed unless he shows that he's going to be worth the risk. He's going to have to start putting up some sacks because he will be judged on his sack totals. Missing the first 4 games of the 2016 season could derail his second year because he's not going to develop sitting at home. He's a young player who needs to be on the field so he can't afford any injuries when he returns.

He was hurt the majority of last year lol. When he started last year it was a small sample size but he was rather dominant without the sacks. He got hurt and came back and was never the same.

i saw him. he showed promise, but he never got there in time. i had hopes for him last year and i still have hopes for him this year, but to say that he was "dominant" in the nfl is laughable.

Don't know what games you were watching but he didn't show an ounce of dominance at any point during the regular season last year. It never ceases to amaze me what you read on this board.

randy gregory couldn't start at DE for *this* team.

i don't dislike the guy, but he has done almost nothing for this team.

any projection of his performance right now is pie in the sky.

People see the talent although you apparently don't. It hasn't translated yet but he was injured around game one.

No one knows what hole Gregory has or why nor what if any personality disorder he may have on top of his addiction. His need for pot is to fill the hole and he is obviously addicted as well. You may not understand this and I wouldn't expect all here to but you may consider being a bit more respectful and sensitive.

Not all things are a matter of just will your way.

I wouldn't characterize it as dominant either. But he showed why he was drafted then he was never the same after being hurt game one. We haven't seen the product at Nebraska yet other than that very small sample.

Very few DEs come into the league and tear it up their first year or at least right away. I doubt Dallas is worried about his talent. They are worried about the obstacles in the way, IMO.

This is a wonderful video. Lots of basic Xs and Os there. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the owner of this team see's Gregory as the starter once he's done his suspension and is conditioned for game action.

Maybe I was watching different games. He looked to be NFL ready in the few games I saw early on before the injury. He surely didn't look like a rookie or like someone that's not capable of being a NFL DE.

Bro could you please stop! He played 3 quarters in his first game before he got hurt. By the way, though he looked descent, it was against a rookie tackle.

I acknowledged that it was a 'small sample size' and he was hurt the majority of the year. There's nothing to "stop". It was a limited sample size so I don't know what he is. But I surely won't write him off for that same sample size either. Only on the Cowboyszone is where fans write players off after one year and then are willing to hop right back in their lap soon after they do just like they did Lawrence .
