Meh. If he goes the 3 years remaining on his rookie contract without a problem then I don't think what you are saying is accurate. It's not like he is a FA now or next year. The CBA very well could change as well.

The NFL is not like your typical corporate environment. Labor is unparalleled scarce particularly at the EDGE.

You never think what I'm saying is accurate. The CBA isn't going to change to where teams are going to have to pay a player a required amount of guaranteed money. Teams will always have the right to protect themselves with contracts for players who've had off the field issues.

Isn't the term 'blue chip' for, like, can't-miss exceptional prospects? I hardly think Gregory is a can't-miss kinda player. Or Jaylon Smith for that matter. There's a reason both fell out of the 1st.., because they AREN'T 'blue chipper' guarantees. We're seeing now why.

Where have you been? Gregory fell out of the first round due to a failed drug test at the combine and Smith fell due to a serious knee injury.

Thanks for helping to make my point. ;)

Failed drug tests and serious injuries are the exact opposite of what the term 'blue chip' denotes.

What are you talking about? Injuries doesn't make you not a blue chip anymore. Blue chip refers to top notch talent dude

I know we don't trust the guy right now and rightfully so. But I came across this phenomenal video regarding Randy's game and it makes sense why we drafted him.

Man, if we can just keep him focused and get him on the field.

We have more blue chip talent on defense than we think.

I would not be shocked if Gregory never played another down for the Cowboys. Anyone that counts on Gregory is making a huge mistake. He has major issues and smoking pot is just a remedy for that.

Anything we get out of Gregory will be on borrowed time in my opinion. And I dont think he will dominate even if he does get on the field.

I have no problems saying that I dont believe he will get another contract from the Cowboys. In my opinion he is another complete bust of a 2nd round pick by Jerry.

Jerry blew it again, there is no other way to put it. He got desperate, and reached for a guy that many had off the board. Good teams simply dont make these kind of draft picks.

And I will be the first to say that I absolutely loved the pick last year. But in all honesty, I never thought it was possible for a guy to NOT be able to quit smoking pot. I still cant believe it. But obviously this kid has bigger mental issues than I was privy to. If you cant stop smoking dope for the draft and then for the team that took you, you are completely done. And I dont think the Cowboys are counting on him either.

This thread is pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

He was hurt the majority of last year lol. When he started last year it was a small sample size but he was rather dominant without the sacks. He got hurt and came back and was never the same.

Is this post a joke? Dominant without sacks? There was absolutely nothing dominant about his play during the regular season. None what so ever. You are imagining things.

Blue chip is elite talent. Randy Gregory & Jaylon Smith have the talent to be perrenial all-pro/pro-bowl players.

You have no clue what you're talking about. You claimed both Randy Gregory and Jaylon Smith fell out of the first round due to their talent and you couldn't be more wrong! Failed drug tests and serious injuries have absolutely nothing to do with a players talent and the term "blue chip" when it comes to sports is all about a players talent level.

Strange but true: For some like a number of our misguided players, the chronic is way stronger that the love for football. I wish it were not true but it is.

randy gregory couldn't start at DE for *this* team.

i don't dislike the guy, but he has done almost nothing for this team.

any projection of his performance right now is pie in the sky.

Agreed. This fan base is so enamored of potential that we often ignore those who have lesser talent but work hard to improve their skills.

I got nothing against good ole Apple Pie but if it's a choice, I'm taking Pecan Pie 6 out of 7 days a week, over Apple. JMO.
I hear ya. I think I just don't like nuts.

Have you ever had a warm slice of apple pie paired with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream? Heavenly.

Thread derail.

Yep. My Wife, when she actually will make Apple, makes it with Granny Smiths and adds carmal into the Apples. Not so much that it's too sweet or over powering but enough so you can taste it. She will usually serve it hot with a huge scoop of good Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and I'm here to tell ya that it's pretty dang good.

All said and done, her Pecan Pie is even better to me. I love it but that's just me. I wouldn't blame anybody for taking Apple Pie over anything else. I like Apple as well.

It's beyond "pot head". He's got some real issues, that go beyond a need to simply take responsibility. He needs some real help.

People like to say you can't get addicted to pot, but the truth is people get addicted to all sorts of things.

True but any help an addict gets has to start with him or herself. Dallas does try to give player support as do most teams but they can't baby sit a grown man he must do his part. For others to place blame on the Cowboys is like blaming the guy who gets robbed instead of looking at the person doing the robbing
