Why don't we sign Gates to split time with Witten.
We can sign Urlacher to help Bradie and Zach.
We can trade for Derek Anderson to be our backup QB.
Get Jason Taylor to split time with Ware.

WE DON'T NEED MOSS!!- plus it would kill our cap.

Restructuring Romo's contract would be simple and it would actually benefit Romo. All it would be is turning base salary into signing bonus so that they could prorate the money over the entire contract. As long as Romo doesn't suffer a career ending injury before the contract is up, it won't hurt the team and if that happens the team is screwed anyway.

With all due respect, if we are going to re-structure Romo's contract at ANY time for ANY reason I'd prefer that we do it to sign a COWBOY not a rent-a-donna.

Moss is an amazing talent, no doubt, but the guy has absolutely no loyalty and I'll guarantee you that he wouldn't return the favor for the sake of "the team". Say all you want about TO, but I genuinely believe that TO loves being a part of the Cowboys and his relationship with his teammates. I'm skeptic that the same could ever be said of Moss.

Who else's contract are you going to renegotiate in order to extend Newman?

Plus Ware's on the horizon?

You think Canty will stay on in '09 for another $2 mil?

And if Barber is the franchise back, his cap figure will certainly climb next year too.

Finally don't forget TO. His contract is expiring also.

You just can't add everyone you want to a roster, nor can you pay them all.

Choices have to be made and there's only one Romo contract to renegotiate.

Excellent point.

We cant have a probowler at every freaking postion. Moss is not coming to Dallas fellas, it is time to put this Madden fantasy to rest.

Moss wants to be the highest paid WR in the NFL. TO is going to want "Moss money" also, so we would have the 2 highest paid WRs in the NFL.

Plus, we are going to long-term our probowl RB
Plus, we are going to long-term our probowl FS
Plus, we are going to long-term our probowl CB
Plus, we are going to long-term our probowl LB

And we are going to trade both #1s to the Raiders or Pats to select our future probowl RB, McFadden.

So, assuming McFadden is a future probowler and we sign Moss, we would have 15 FREAKING PROBOWLERS!!!

Flo, Guorde, Bigg, Witten, TO, Romo, Barber, Moss, Folk, Ellis, Ware, Hamlin, Newman, Roy, and McFadden.

No Cap is only way this all happens.;)

The only chance of Moss could genuinely feel and show anything along the lines of TO as far as the Cowboys goes comes down to Jerry.

If Jerry lays it all on the table

  1. I know I should had drafted you
  2. I want you on the team - I can take care of the money
  3. I want to bring you to our team/family and want to retire you a cowboy
  4. etc...etc....etc...
With that said... I dont think its in Moss to be that way...unless Jerry finds it in him

Well, Technically we had 13 pro bowl players last season.....
Seriously, I agree with Beast on this one, you have to choose carefully which players are the most critical to keep long-term.

Ware-----is a no-brainer
Roy Williams---too late
Newman---we need to hold onto as he is hard to replace
Hamlin-----to me is low on the priority list
Canty--- same as above, he has talent and potential but not in the same league as a Ware or Newman
Barber -- I Love Barber and the spirit and grit he brings to the team but he is best off the bench and not worthy of big-time money
This is why we really need a speed back someone faster than Julius.

I dont really want to trade the farm for McFadden but if you think about it Peterson went at 7 and as good a McFadden is I dont know that he would go higher than that.

Davis gave him the same sales pitch. Gave his kids Raiders gear, told him how happy he was to have him in the Raiders family, yada, yada, yada.

Now the Raiders sucked, no doubt about it, but there's more to it than just money or being wanted for Moss.

Look at the Pats situation. I don't know how much they are offering Moss, but I would guess that it's no pittance and they probably aren't willing to break the bank, either (for the overall sake of the TEAM). Moss obviously wants no part of what they are offering even though it's the BEST position he's been in since he's entered the league. Yet, the chance to win a SB and stay with the best QB he's ever worked with (not to mention, arguably the best QB in the league) isn't good enough.

Sorry dude, but I don't buy it for a minute. There's not a song and dance in the world that is going to make Randy Moss a "team player" if he didn't come to that epiphany last season. It sure as hell isn't going to happen on a team that has 13 Pro Bowlers stealing Randy's thunder.

Walk away. Far away from any Moss deal that will have far more negative implications (short or long term) than the rewards can possibly be worth.

Conventional comparison are out the door for Barber.

You need to think outside the box when it comes to him.

He gives you quality of carries. Would you prefer a RB to replace him that gets a few more carries(starter carries) but provides less results?

Look, I just feel that Barber is the most effective when you bring him in off the bench and let him hit the defense instead of the defense hitting him. As great as Barber is he is not going to carry the load himself he has to be paired up with a speed back that can catch the ball out of the backfield. This is why you dont want to throw a huge contract his way. Mid-level deal fine.

I tend to agree with you. He is who he is.

But.... many said TO wasnt gonna work and it did. I do think Moss is different and it wouldnt work.... you just never know.

Honestly the only way I think this would have any chance of happening is if he was willing to take a much smaller deal for the first year of the deal so Dallas can get him in under the cap in that first year.

If he has to have 8-10 on the deal for that first year there is zero shot, at all, of it happening.

Owens is coming off the books sooner rather than later.

Hes costing $8 mil or so a season on the cap. If you plan around that I have no doubt we can make it work.

That makes sense UNLESS you are planning on bringing Owens back.

And if you are then no Moss for you!
