Rant About Refs

I haven't seen any difference in the replacements compared to the regular refs. That's not necessarily a compliment. I don't believe the regular refs are very good, and I think the regulars have some bias in them.

That's one thing I kind of like about the replacements. I don't think they have much bias because they don't have any entitlement and want to do a good job to maybe stay on.

The reason people think these replacement refs are bad is because we're paying more attention to them. The media and announcers are paying more attention to them and looking for mistakes. The reality is they're the same kind of mistakes the regular refs have routinely made in the past.

I though t they did fine. I think a lot of is that we know they are replacements and the media is always talking about and the people calling the game is always talking about it. If no one knew I don't think anyone would notice. I actually like them better cause they let the dbs play.

Biggest thing I noticed in a lot of the games is bad spotting of the ball. Have seen it in the Broncos game already tonight.

Here's what people overlook....the 'real refs' are not much better. How many times did the real refs, in the last 5 years, actually NOT know the rules of football?

Happened quite a bit.

To me, it's a little more lousy than the real refereeing...which is lousy. It's like saking the urinal cake in the bathroom tastes better than the dog poop in the front yard.

Perhaps I've missed the regulars granting 4th timeouts. The bigger indictment is that they were assisted by a senior ref on that call.

Has happened before; I seen and extra down given before and i have also seen a down taken away.

All the crap has happened before under the previous refs

I will take the sucky refs that seem to suck for both teams anyday over the biased refereeing from the regular refs.
:signmast:

The AZ Seattle TO thing wasn't about how many time outs the Seahawks had but the fact the Refs didn't charge them for a TO earlier. It was under 2:00 mins left and the hawks had an injury. By rule they should have charged them with a team TO. They didn't. That is why there was one TO still showing and why the Hawks thought they still had a TO. It was poor administration by the refs who didn't know the rules.

Missed calls are one thing. Not know the rules is another.

I though the roughing on Matthews was a legitimate call and definitely roughing. It was late, the ball was gone and it was uneccessary. That is roughing, Matthew had a clear view that the ball was gone and could have avoided hitting him.

I don't think it's so much the refs as much as it is these rules in the NFL nowadays. I switched around to a lot of games today and everything is a pass interference or some kind of call that favors the offense. Half the calls at least are ridiculous. It just seems like you can't play any defense these days without paying for it from the refs. No matter they are the replacement or the regular refs.

For those of you who think the officiating is so terrible please use the same highly critical eye and rewatch games from the last few yeaRS. nOT GONNA BE ALOT OF DIFFERENCE IT'S JUST THAT EVERY BAD/CLOSE CALL IS PICKED OVER BY COMMENTATORS.

This

They also call the delay of game differently

It's supposed to be when the clock hits zero, then look to see if ball is snapped...usually provides the offense w another half second or so

New refs throw the flag right when it hits 0

Oh I can't believe I forgot the end of the Seattle/Arizona game how stupid do you have to be to not know how many timeouts a team has? That is absolutely inexcusable. You would expect professional refs to know how many time puts a team has.
Remember Green Bay and Dallas a couple of years ago when Green Bay was awarded their 4th time out?

It's good to see that even replacement officials are funded by Pittsburgh.

Yeah I'm shocked that Denver didn't challenge that spot. It was clear as day.

Fox also swallowed that challenge flag on the 12-men-on-the-field play earlier in the game.

This is the biggest problem I see with them so far. They under spotted several balls short in our game. In the Eagirls game they consistently under spotted the Browns and over spotted the Eagirls. And it seems to continue in tonight's game.

Replacement refs have been just fine. Just gives everyone an excuse to rant. The other refs mess up all the time. I think they have been pretty darn good . Eaxh week they will get better and better. They have not done anything to change an outcome of a game

I didn't expect it to be a big issue and it hasn't been. Every week these replacements will become less of a story and the old refs will become even more irrelevant than they are now.
Exactly. The offciating has been no worse than the regular referees. It's been far from the keystone cops everyone was predicting.

I could have done without that reference.

Anyways, until we get full-time professional referees who are held to high standards, this slop will continue, even after the 'real' refs return. Even then, there will be screw ups. It happens in every sport.
