Rant About Refs

I really love the fact that NFL Football is back because it's the best sport/league in America, but these replacement refs are a freaking joke. They are a disgrace to the game of football. They are so incompetent it's amazing. They have single handily ruined the game of football and made it far less enjoyable.

They sucked in the first game of the season on Wednesday night and somehow someway they have defied the odds and gotten even worse. The roughing the passer on Hatcher was a flat out terrible call on Wednesday Night, but the one called in today's Green Bay/San Francisco game may have even be worse. I'm absolute sick of quarterbacks being babied. This is football. How can you tell a guy he can't play physical? Most of these guys know no other way than going all out and hitting the crap out of their opponent? I really hope this lockout ends between the NFL and the real refs because we really need them. These clowns reffing the games are high school level officials maybe even worse.

I've seen bit and pieces of almost every game today

Outside of the 4th timeout in Arizona, they've been fine

Perfect? Absolutely not..but neither are the regulars

Havent heard this from anybody else.

Actually, overall, the reports have been okay and better than expected.

To be fair, the officiating today was not bad. I only saw one major screw-up, that was at the end of the Ari/Sea game.

But I agree, time for the other ref's to return.

Holy overreaction batman!!!!

They have not been as bad as people are making it seem........I think alot of its in ur head kid

They were pretty bad in the GB-SF game but it evened out a bit at the end

Oh I can't believe I forgot the end of the Seattle/Arizona game how stupid do you have to be to not know how many timeouts a team has? That is absolutely inexcusable. You would expect professional refs to know how many time puts a team has.

They are in an impossible situation and frankly have not done that bad.

Every fan site, every week complains about the regular officials.

I didn't expect it to be a big issue and it hasn't been. Every week these replacements will become less of a story and the old refs will become even more irrelevant than they are now.

It didn't make a difference. As Mike Peiria(sp?) said there wasn't a penalty. All it did was give both teams time to talk about the next play.

Major screw up in the Washington/NO game where pass interference was called where there was NONE giving Washington the ball on the 1 yard line in what should've been a punting situation.

So many uncalled holds in our game in NY that it defies explanation.

The gift TD on the punt return where the obvious block in the back against the San Fran defender was picked up.

An extra time out was given in the Seattle/Arizona game.

Officiating has been worse than usual.

I saw that PI call on roman Harper..regular refs screw that call up more times than not as well...

Disagree completely..I don't see much of a difference. Not yet at least...preseason was horrid...regular season, not so much

SF and GB started off pretty bad but the Refs settled down and got better but they made some that made you go what.

The Refs in the Miami Texans game did a wonderful job

The problem is that they are making fundamental errors. Most fans know that an injury inside of 2 minutes would result in a timeout for Seattle. The refs have been abysmal.

These refs have been awful!
The green bay/san fran game was full of blown calls. The "taking off the helmet" penalty and the roughing on clay were very bad to name a few.
Anyone catch the "timeout" scandal in arizona-seattle game? That is just embarrassing...

The NFL needs to get its **** together and bring back the pros.

Put the regular refs under the same microscope and its going to be the same thing. Outside of a few huddles to confirm. The 4th quarter time out vs the Hochili debacle. You tell me which was worse.

The NFL should just break off a talks with the "better" refs and let these guys get better and negotiate with them. A change is needed anyway.

The 49ers-Packers game is the 1st game of this NFL season where I felt the replacement refs completely and utterly sucked. I saw missed/blown calls here an there in other games including the Cowboys-Giants game but there were too many errors to even count in the Niners game.

The only positive, if there is any, is the ref errors seems to have been fairly evenly distributed against both teams.

Still, it was ugly.

Yes..I agree

But other than that...I haven't seen anything insanely stupid

I didn't notice these refs anymore than the regular ones. They made mistakes, but so do the normal guys. If anything I've liked how they let them play, and for the most part don't call a lot of ticky tack crap.

I will take the sucky refs that seem to suck for both teams anyday over the biased refereeing from the regular refs.
