What if we don't? What if they get taken just before we pick like Max Unger did in 2009?

Had we waited on Dez in 2010 he would be a Raven right now.

I highly doubt Ealy, Lawrence, Sutton, Nix, Tuitt, Chrichton, Jernigan, and Murphy will all be gone at our pick. I like some of these guys better then others, but I think anyone of them can be a good player for us.

I wonder if the splash could be something else. Maybe staying put at 47, and in addition, packaging Dallas' 3rd and a pick next year to get a second pick in round 2. So sacrificing next year to come away with the DT they want and the DE they want in the top 50 picks.

Not sure how I'd feel about that, but that'd certainly be a splash move and secure DL help. Jernigan AND Ealy/Lawrence would be a nice haul.

I still say Timmy Jernigan would be a terrific pick. I like Lawrence and Ealy well enough, but Jernigan plays with an edge and would provide some "ooomph" in the middle of the line.

I guess the question becomes at what cost...

Of course I don't want to give up the ranch to get the guy we want on the other hand I would like to get players that the staff feel can best come in and produce if it cost us a 4th rd then do it. My hope is to hit on the top 3 players and with all the 7th rd picks find some good role player hopefully some who can develop into more

not sure if i'm intentionally being misquoted and my sarcasm about a boring saturday went over some people's head, but as i've clearly said twice now - i see the need to do what it takes (trade up) to get impact players and come out a better team in the end, no matter how many picks we actually make.

No not at all, I understood your comments and saw some others where you have said do what it take. I'm pretty much just agree with you.

I understand what you're saying and if Dallas has that many guys they like all the same, then they probably will stay put... however, I think their list is probably considerably shorter than yours. What if they think that Nix and Tuitt don't fit what they're looking for in this defense? What if they don't like Sutton and Murphy?

If that's the case (and it could be), then they have to hope that Ealy, Lawrence, Crichton, and Jernigan all make it from 33 to 47. I don't need to tell you that hoping that 4 guys make it through a gauntlet of 14 teams isn't a very good strategy when you desperately need one of them.

To me - (and apparently to the Cowboys) - letting go of an extra pick is well worth ensuring you get the guy you need.

Whoever the Cowboys pick, I hope they have some "nasty" in their minds! That is what I want. I loved Ware, but he was just to damn nice!

I'm not completely opposed to moving up. I just hope it's because we are sticking to our board and know who we want, and not just Jerry trying to make a splash. As hard as it is, with recent history we should give him the benefit of the doubt

Just something to consider I doubt they would be willing to trade up for 3-4 or more guys. It is for One guy they clearly believe will be taken before 47. So they clearly put one guy above the others in wish list.

They would have to be doing it for a specific player, I'm sure. It would be wildly irresponsible to do it just to make a splash.

Yep. That's the way I see it too.

I'm all for it, not just because I think they should do what they need to in order to get who they have targeted... but also because it means that there IS a guy there who they really like a whole lot. In other words, there is someone there who they think is head and shoulders above everyone else.

I prefer to think they have a guy they love rather than they will just take the highest rated player at their pick.

I agree wholeheartedly. Jernigan has that in spades. He's nuckin' futs.
