Here we go again. I love Pollard but I've always said that good RBs are a dime-a-dozen and easily replaced. Pollard is no different. I said the same thing when Zeke was chillin in Cabo and was repeatedly told, "But Zeke is special though." We all know how that turned out.

Someone feel free to show us the last second contract for a running back that worked out well for the team:

A tag is a little different than a long term deal.

Will create poison in the lockerroom.

Tags are bad for players, even those who play positions with longevity.

But RBs have a very short shelf life....and this will rob him of his chance to get a lucrative "2nd contract". RBs only get one huge payday/signing bonus ...by the end of their lucrative 2nd contract they're toast.

He'll get some good money getting tagged, but it WONT be the payday every young player hopes for, and it will create bad blood.

It's why some teams never use it

Stop.

Nobody is giving a 1st for any RB these days....

He MIGHT get a 3rd.

Nothing against TP....it's just the position he plays.
Depends how electric he looks as a starting breakaway RB, and a receiver with huge YAC
Can showcase him till the deadline.

I'm sure someone else already posted it, but franchise tag value for RB this past season was $9.570 million, so I'm assuming it will be somewhere in the ~$10M range for 2023.

For context, we just paid Zeke a base salary of $12.4M this season plus a prorated bonus of $5.82M, resulting in a cap hit of $18.22M.

I've got zero issues paying Pollard ~$10M for one season.

Let both Zeke and Pollard go. No need to pay that kind of money to RB's. We can get Pollard back cheap when the real GM's won't pony up that kind of money for a scatback.

We can find starting quality RB's on day two and three of the draft.
You won't find a star running back that can block d linemen and double block for the other rb.

Maybe you don't wanna pay bazillion dollars.....do suffer the consequences then.

You won't. Dak will get hurt, and you'll be mad Tony (or whoever) isn't living up to his money. And you won't say squat.

He's not a "star running back."

He's just paid like one.

Sign a fullback for pennies to pass block.
