If I'm Pollard, I'm not crazy about signing a franchise tag. RB's have a short shelf life and one chance to get paid.

Not even close.

His production didn’t come close to the cost.
You seriously didn't like his 7-95-2 production in the playoffs last week? That's what's important.
The cost this year doesn't matter. It's the out-year commitment that matters, and he comes with none.

Letting a player go rather than overpaying was the best option.

I’m aware of the timing.
Schultz has been a key contributor this season.

Ferguson was just on TV on one of local Sunday morning shows about the Cowboys (All shows taped during the week).
- He said he was not ready game 1 and now laughs at himself when he reviews early season game film.

Linda Wells did a great coaching job this year.

The right answer here is to:
- Franchise Pollard $10.1m
- Draft an RB in the 2nd to 4th round
- Cut Zeke post June 1, which saves $10.9m

You would actually save money versus the cap.

What's to prepare? A rookie can step up on day 1 of next season.
And what run the ball yes,, but can they pick up on protections, catch the ball out of the backfield.....not many can do that year one successfully ....get the QB hurt and that would be the end of it

I like Schultz but Ferguson and Hendershots play has dismissed his leverage for big money from the Cowboys….I’d like to keep him but bidness is bidness
That's why the franchise tag was such a good decision. You get him this year as the rookies develop, and you have no out-year commitment to him so you can let him go after this year wtih no dead money.

:hammer:

It’s not from a lack of appreciation for what he contributes, it’s simply the reality of cap management.

Same for Zeke. I don’t question his efforts, but he just can’t justify what he costs.
