Rashawn Gary looks like this year's Kenneth Murray

No he hasn't been "solid". No he definitely hasn't been "exactly what he was in GB". You don't pay a guy $16M to be a role player "at best" who you describe as "not going to be the worst player on your defense"
Who would have thought Gary might not be any good?

I mean other than everyone who paid a modicum of attention to Rashan's 2025 performance?

"The 2025 season was a disappointing one for Gary. He was expected to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of Micah Parsons’ addition to the defense. The theory went that if opposing teams double team Parsons and slide their protection to his side, Gary will see single coverage and be able to take advantage of the opportunities that would result.

In the early part of the season, it worked very well. Gary recorded 7.5 sacks in the first seven games of the year. He was getting good pressure on opposing quarterbacks and had recorded seven tackles for loss in those first seven games. Gary needed just two more sacks to tie his career high for a season and 2.5 more to reach double digit sacks for the first time in his NFL career.

But in the final 10 games, Gary’s production dropped significantly. He did not record a sack or a tackle for loss in those final 10 games. In the first seven games, Gary recorded 13 quarterback hits according to pro-football-reference.com. In the last 10 games, he recorded just seven. His snap counts started to drop after his production did.

When Parsons was lost for the season in Denver in Week 15, the Packers needed Gary to step up and provide more pass rush. He failed to come through. Overall, the defense played poorly without Parsons and gave up far too many yards and points down the stretch. The Packers did not win another game

The man has 46.5 career sacks in 8 seasons. That's 5.8 sacks per season including 3 games of 2026. 6.6 sacks per season over 7 seasons.

He averages exactly 0.43 sacks a game on his career. If he sticks to his average with 14 games to play he ends up with 6 sacks in 2026.

The guy is exactly who I thought he was...regular. Never had more than 9.5 career sacks. Four times in his career he has had more than 7 sacks in a season. Four times. Again, he is an eight year vet.

Not my fault you looked at him and thought that guy is a difference maker.
I thought he was DeMarcus Lawrence (the current version). It doesn't look like he's on Lawrence's level, though.

We had a six page “Jaishawn Barham gives me Ray Lewis vibes” a week ago.

Here are a few more
  • “Does Phil Mafah give King Henry vibes?“
  • “Jaydon Blue reminds me of Tony Dorsett”. (One guess who started that one)
And this classic
  • “Denucci reminds me of Romo”
Never underestimate the Power of The Zone.

no DE in the league will do well in CPs system. DEs are trying to cover TEs and RBs while playing zone
I’m starting to suspect this. Gary isn’t the only edge I’ve seen standing still and watching the play unfold. That is a terrible strategy for edge rushers.

I watched the Giants game over again. Rashawn Gary looks like this year’s Kenneth Murray. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. Except Murray wasn’t making $20 million a year.
Wait a minute…we’ve been told for months “the Cowboys won the Parsons trade”.

Now you are just making things up to try and not be wrong. Who said he was a difference maker? I said better than he has been here, which has been just flat out bad. And 9.5 sacks is A LOT! 7 sacks is pretty darn good too. He isn’t getting 6.6 sacks this year if he plays like he has so far. He’d be lucky to get 4. You said he is playing just like he did in GB. No he isn’t. That was the discussion. You are moving the goalposts.

This type of talk makes no sense. Draft picks like JaiB (55), Booker, Downs, Tyler Smith and many others seem do just fine with Jerry as the GM. I'm not the biggest fan of Jerry but come one, every GM have a lot of hit and misses. Gary was an above average player at GB. Either he's a slow starter, playing out of place, scheme not right for him, hurt, or something. He didn't just forget how to play football. I think Murray was never good in the NFL.
In life, things are not all or nothing.

Most people think Jerry makes football decisions. He doesn't, he makes decisions to make money.

You brought up the good draft picks, well there are the Mazis and Schoons that are terrible.

Don't ever forget he put out a statement from them releasing him, removed it then Jerry traded away a 4th round pick. This is the joke they are, an absolute joke. Like they didn't already give GB a generational pass rushing talent and one of the best players that ****** ever landed in a draft.

No goal posts being moved. He's played 3 games in Dallas.

Table this conversation for the end of the season. Then we can see his numbers and how he played in Dallas in comparison to his numbers in Green Bay.

I'm confident this regular player will have similar regular numbers as he always has barring missing games due to injury.

Note: If he gets benched, then you have a valid argument.
