The Final Destination (3D) - 5/10. Easily the worst of the series. The deaths weren't too terribly created and they really didn't add anything new to the series. No new twists or theories at all. The 3D was ok, but by no means great. Most of the deaths didn't involve it too much which sort of defeats the purpose for this movie IMO. Basically just a little extra depth for the most part.

I finally saw the first one today. When Devon Sawa's your lead, you know you're in trouble.

Yeah, I never care about the characters, but I've always gotten a good laugh out of the deaths. Not so much this time.

You can't beat teenagers with receding hairlines.

It is incredible. I am currently debating whether or not to see it again.

BOOK REVIEW - Soon to be movie

The Road - 10/10 - This book is being made into a movie. You can see the trailer online. The writer did No Country for Old men. This book kicked me in the balls, poked me in the eyes and slept with my mother. Can't remember ever being this moved by a book.

The Road was a great book, one of my favorite of the past 5 years, and Cormac McCarthy is one of the best authors around. That said, the movie just looks like it'll be a huge disappointment. I just don't think that McCarthy's style in that book and easily translate to the screen. For instance, the passage near the end that reads,
"Once there were brook trout in the streams in the mountains. You could see them standing in the amber current where the white edges of their fins wimpled softly in the flow. They smelled of moss in your hand. Polished and muscular and torsional. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery".
I just don't know how that can accurately be transferred from page to silver screen.

Inglorious Basterds - 8/10 - Loved the movie, just the right amount of everything, and as my Jewish friend dubbed it, "Total Jew Porn". Great performances from everyone, although I did wonder why the hell Mike Myers was in the film and summoning up Austin Powers yet again.

Mirrors
- 1/10 - Came out a while ago but had been putting it off since I knew it would suck. The fiance said she wanted to watch a scary movie so we decided to watch it, turns out I was right, it's awful in every respect (except Paula Patton, who is smoking hot and gives the best performance of everybody in the entire movie, despite the fact that they made her show cleavage in every shot). I've also decided Keifer Sutherland is a terrible actor and 24 is literally the role he was born to play, cause he can't do **** else.

Adventureland - (7/10) - I think it's a fun movie, I like that the characters wouldn't neccesarily make Teen People's sexy lists anytime soon, and the story was good enough without going overboard.

Taking Woodstock - 5/10 - Most of the story could have taken place anywhere else and very little of the actual Woodstock music made it in the movie but it was a watchable coming of age film.

The Heartbreak Kid - 7/10 - The crazy newly wed wife scenes make this worth watching at least the first hour.

That's funny because my Jewish roommate said almost the exact same thing.

District 9 plays at 1:55 in Corpus Christi. Deciding to go or not, I hear it's awesome.

The first two chapters definitely are...the rest, not so much. You could pretty much cut out the entirety of the Basterds storyline and the other storyline would still work. The stories were related a bit, but neither depended on the other, so it is closer to 2 movies than one, and each starts brilliantly, but falter a bit. The non-Basterds story picks itself up somewhat at the end, however.

Finally saw Trapped with Charlize Theron. It was okay, but I love the cast. Pretty good acting, but the plot was ehh...

I really dont think so, I thought the stories intertwined perfectly, and I was more than happy to see the story focus more on the jewish chick than Aldo and the gang.

The Boxer -- 8.5/10

one of Daniel Day-Lewis' more subdued performances, Gerard McSorley is one of the best movie villains out there, you just end up hating the guy, I hated him in Veronica Guerin too

and I don't know what it is about Emily Watson, but I find her terribly sexy

District 9 - 9/10 - Probably best movie of 2009 (Hangover was up there too - just saw some of this posts reviews for Inglourious Basterds, will check that out). Very fresh and new. Wasn't expecting what this movie delivered.

The Goods - 2/10 - Couldn't even finish it was so random and lacked a plot. Low-class comedy.

The Soloist - 5/10 - Boring and needed to end quicker.

Duplicity - 6/10 - Confusing movie, lots of plot holes, but good acting. Had flashes of the Oceans series movies.

Twilight - 4/10 - I watched it to see what all the fuss was about. Spent most of my time laughing at how bad it was. Actors spent most time eye ******* each other.
